There are still mountain men to this day!
There was a case of Mountain men who turned blue in colour, due to interbreeding which spread a blood disorder! There have even been cases both in Europe and the USA of Feral families who did indeed turn to cannibalism! … Whether those newspaper clipping are real how ever I don’t know, I’m not sure if anyone became as mutated by interbreeding as they do in these kind of movies no doubt it is "reality" exaggerated for cinematic effect! |

The clips were fake. The story is fake. The movie is fiction. Of course there are people that live in the hills/mountains, some even inbreed, and a few might even be cannibals, but this movie wasn't based on anything factual.
