Not really.
To post a normal reply, you need to load a new page. No big deal for those of us with a good internet connection, but on dial-up it could take awhile. With Quick Reply, you dont need to load a new page to type your reply. The box opens in the same page, potentially saving time.

I always use quick reply. It does save time. I have a good connection, but an older computer. It's a few less clicks, so it's a few seconds less time. Every second helps.
