Obviously Halloween is the better if the two. Although Scream comes in very close. I really enjoyed Scream and it is by far one of my favorite horror movies of all time. Scream is one of those movies where I can watch all day and never get sick of it. Halloween gets very old after awhile.

I am not really a fan of the scream films, at all. But then again, I don't think the scream films were trying to be anything more than entertaining, somewhat tongue-in-cheek horror spoof films with a hard gory edge. And on that level, they work fine.
As for the Halloween series, I liked Episode 1 (A New Hope) because it established everything. 2 was a good sequel--got better with age, in my opinion, as I hated it the first time I saw it. 3 had nothing to do with Michael Myers but was very imaginative while also being kind of cheesy, so it rates at least a 5 out of 10 for me. The other Halloween movies...well, let's not talk about those.
