Incidentally, I never thought that the soundtrack shone over the rest of the movie. It's a brilliant soundtrack, to be sure, but I loved the writing and direction so much that it was never just the soundtrack. So I find it interesting that some people think that its popularity only comes from the soundtrack - Never considered it that way.

i think a long time ago i made an observation that i always saw Napoleon dynamite to be the 'simple cousin' of donnie darko.
both dealing with a guy who is out of step with everything around him, and the time travel bit.
been a while since i've seen DD but back when .. i remember finding a few more amusing similarities
as far as people having it change their philosophies - just take that for what it is ... young folks are impressionable ... 10 years from now they'll be saying the same thing because of some book on buddha they read.
i'd never let that stop me from seeing something on my own terms.
