My favorite animal zombies and animals infected with a highly contagious plague of some sort that spreads easily to humans:

Resident Evil series - Dobermans and crows
Night Of The Creeps - a dog and a cat
Return Of The Living Dead - half a dog and some butterflies
28 Days Later - chimpanzees
Dead Alive - Sumatran rat monkey

What did I miss?

Return of the living dead - Split dog

Deat Heat - mad shit - zombie cows/ducks etc

Plague Dogs - man tht film depresses me..

Mentioned the split dog.

Plague Dogs looks like Watership Down; pure childhood trauma.

Dead Heat - sort of a split between zombie animals and evil food; a 2 for 1.

Though it may loo like it - it is not to be taken lightly. Its horrible and depressing. Fucked me up for days. Honest.

I saw Watership Down when I was young, and still haven't gotten over how depressing it was.

I know it's not exactly horror (sorry)... but the dog in Cujo was pretty freaky.

Also, wasn't there some dead dog laying in the water in Cabin Fever? I might be wrong on this one though.

Cujo counts. There was an infected dog in Cabin Fever and another dog that might have just been bloodthirsty.

I was thinking The Stand, but it didn't start with an animal, it started by anthrax.

Piranha II Flying killers, awesome movie, these fish could fly higher than the seagulls:)

Not sure this counts as an animal zombie or carrier of disease, but how can I resist an opportunity to put up this picture?
