i might sound like a broken record but texas chainsaw massacre should be number 1...that movie had a big impact for horror films back then...people could not stop talking about it... i dont remember alot of talk about the shining

My rating was based on the film with the biggest impact on me rather than impact on film in general. If I was considering impact on film in general, I'd probably go with Jaws.

but the texas chainsaw was frightening because it could really happen(it did in a way i.e ed gein) dont get me wrong thousands of people are attacked by sharks each year but i dont know what is scarier cannibals or sharks either way you will get eaten:D

Funny how people are more frightened of being eaten by humans (or zombies) than by animals.
