The Avengers: Age of Ultron - Official Discussion/Announcements thread
He has no idea where Tony Stark will have ended up, post-Avengers in 2012, but Jon Favreau has confirmed that he wants to continue Iron Man's solo outings when the team-up dust has settled.
He told MTV that he sees The Mandarin as Robert Downey Jr's next major adversary. "You've got to do The Mandarin", says the director, who has been teasing this in the films already with tiny references to the Ten Ring organisation, "but the problem is, the way he's depicted in the comic books... you don't want to see that." The way he's depicted in the comic books is basically as a dastardly Chinaman, a la Fu Manchu. He's a scientific genius, descended from Genghis Khan, whose martial arts prowess makes him capable of taking on the armoured Stark with his bare hands (although at one point he lost his memory and became a cleaner at Stark Enterprises). An IGN poll last year ranked him the 81st greatest comic book villain of all time. So he's above Carnage and Mysterio, but 79 paces below The Joker. He gets his power from ten magical rings, which Favreau concedes is a problem in his highly tech-based Iron Man universe. But with that universe expanding to include the supernatural Thor, he reasons "maybe introducing magic won't seem out of place" after all. Iron Man 2 is currently dominating the world's box office. Iron Man 3... is a long way off. |
Jon Favreau has talked again about the status of Iron Man 3, stating that the threequel will be a continuation of the big screen adventures of Thor, Hulk, Captain America and The Avengers.
While promoting his new movie Cowboys & Aliens, the director discussed how the story of Iron Man 3 would be entirely dependent on the fall-out of the other Marvel movies coming out next year. “Kevin Feige, who’s been involved with superhero movies with Marvel movies since the X-Men films, is very aware of his path and how to weave [things together],” says Favs. “So in theory, Iron Man 3 is going to be a sequel or continuation of Thor, Hulk, Captain America and Avengers… This whole world… I have no idea what it is. I don’t think they do either, from conversations I’ve had with those guys.” This much we pretty much already knew, but it’s good to hear it from the horse’s mouth. Though Favreau is still yet to fully commit to a third Iron Man, we assume he’ll need to get started on a script soon if he wants to avoid a repeat of Iron Man 2 – which was criticised by audiences for not having a strong enough story. Iron Man 3 is scheduled for release on 3 May, 2013. |
The Avengers II - Official Discussions and Announcements thread
Now that The Avengers is steamrolling through the BOs worldwide, garnering big points from geeky fans and critics alike, it's time we had this thread as a forerunner to the next installment in the franchise.
As we speak, Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 are already in development, with scheduled releases in 2013. Here's the latest on both of them :- Quote:

So, will we see other sequels as well (like Captain America 2 scheduled for a 2014 release, Nick Fury's own standalone movie, etc.), and a possible Amazing Spider-Man link-up to The Avengers 2 as well? Admit it, even a cameo by Spidey will add a lot of fireworks to the already turbo-charged lineup. And finally, will there (finally) be an introduction of The Wasp? Oh, and what about that Ant-Man movie? Questions, to which we shall find the answers in the days to come. |
They should include the Wasp since she was one of original Avengers. And Spider-Man because, well, it's Spider-Man, it's awesome, and he was part of the Avengers once, if I recall correctly.
I think there's also a new Hulk movie planned. I'm curious to see Iron-Man 3 and Thor 2, if they are as good as the prequels I am going to love them. I have yet to see Captain America though. |
I guess again there will be a cameo of Nick Fury at the end of the new Spider-Man movie. Though I've nothing to complain about the current team (movie) of Avengers but yeah...they should have add Wasp & Ant-Man as far the original comic book series goes. Who knows...they may add some events in the sequel which would force Black Widow & Hawkeye to leave the group & make the spots for Wasp & Ant!? ;)

Joss Whedon Has Completed An Outline For The Avengers 2
What makes the Marvel Cinematic Universe such a special thing is the way that all of the wide-reaching stories are all brought together and intertwined with a master plan constantly in mind. Judging by the end of The Avengers we are all but guaranteed to see the superhero team go up against the powerful alien/god Thanos in the sequel, but that means that Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy will all have to play towards the end of Phase 2. And apparently what that end is going to look like has already been mapped out. Joss Whedon - who not only turned The Avengers into one of the best comic book movies of all time, but is also set to write and direct The Avengers 2 and has a long term contract at Marvel that will see him shepherd future films - recently sat down for a chat with Entertainment Weekly and not only talked at length about the making of his superhero epic, but also revealed that he is on his way to writing a script for the big sequel. The story says that they met with the filmmaker just a few days after he finished and submitted the first outline for the movie, meaning that the first details about the story are floating out in the universe somewhere at this moment. The Avengers 2 is scheduled to be released May 1, 2015 and while nothing is official it's expected that Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo will return as Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and the Hulk (not to mention other actors like Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner). Marvel Studios is also in the midst of developing a S.H.I.E.L.D. television series, which is set to star Clark Gregg (aka Phil Coulson), Ming-Na Wen, Brett Dalton, Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain De Caestecker. Whedon will direct the pilot - which is scheduled to go into production early next year - while his longtime collaborators Jeffrey Bell, Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon will serve as showrunners should the project be picked up as a series. http://popwatch.ew.com/2012/12/04/jo...s-of-the-year/ |
Like nearly every good Whedon TV show, S.H.I.E.L.D will be canceled and continue to have a huge cult following.
I'm excited for all of these upcoming movies, as well as S.H.I.E.L.D. |

Marvel Studios has found its female lead for the sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier. They are in talks with Emily VanCamp, who makes the leap to the big screen after starring in such series as ABC’s Revenge, the WB’s Everwood and Brothers And Sisters.
She joins Chris Evans in a sequel that doesn’t have a firm start date, but will be released April 4, 2014. The film is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. http://www.nextmovie.com/blog/emily-...inter-soldier/ |

While it’s exciting to look ahead to Marvel’s Phase Two slate post-Iron Man 3, all roads lead to one of the most anticipated sequels in recent memory: The Avengers 2.
Steve recently spoke with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, and during their extended conversation Feige talked quite a bit about how Iron Man 3 gives audiences an idea of what to expect from The Avengers 2. Quote:

'The Avengers 2' Will be Titled 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron'
Joss Whedon and the folks at Marvel unveiled a surprise bombshell tonight as they revealed that the villain in the 2015 superhero sequel "The Avengers 2" is not going to be the giant purple alien Thanos after all — as was teased in the after credits scene at the end of "The Avengers" — but rather the team's number one archenemy in the comics, Ultron. Naturally, that news sent fanboys and fangirls around the world into swoons of excitement. But for everyone else, there was one itsy bitsy question: Who the hell is Ultron? Quote:
As a result, most of Ultron's appearances through the decades have revolved around this deadly family feud, with Ultron trying to destroy both his "father" and his "son," with the rest of humanity being collateral damage. And given that the Vision's mutant wife, the Scarlet Witch, is already confirmed to be in "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" — and that Vin Diesel is widely rumored to be in talks with Marvel to play Vision — chances are pretty good that we'll be seeing some version of this story play out on the big screen two years from now. Of course, it should also be noted that the specific title "The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron" refers to a comic book event called "Age of Ultron" that just ended last month. The plot of that series is so incredibly convoluted it's technically impossible to actually explain it, but given that it involved time travel to multiple alternate realities and prominently features Wolverine as one of the main characters (who can't appear unless Fox gives up the movie rights), it's pretty unlikely "Avengers 2" will be a direct adaptation. Whatever the case, though, we can't wait. Because, trust us: Ultron is awesome. http://collider.com/avengers-2-title...age-of-ultron/ |
Hm...yeah "Age of Ultron" the comic series would not make a good movie.
VERY convoluted, not to mention takes place with different characters, a different set of avengers that have a: Not been established in these films at all yet b: Been X-Men c: Been Fantastic Four members ...The last two there won't happen due to current fox ownership of those... If they tried to spin it differently with different characters, no, I just do not see it working. It's definitely a storyline that would take more than a movie to do it justice, and yes...too many variables.... Though something involving the creation and ascent into sentience of Ultron would be good. They could potentially do ONE reality shift for part of the film (VS the ?5? in the comic series) by having Ultron somehow contact his future self, or a future self simply coming into existence after his creation...who would go into the past to assure his creation/ascention which would fuck with the current timeline. Then I'd assume the Avengers of that "warped" reality would somehow gain access to the time shifting technology and go back to our current time as seen in the MCU thus far, and be working counter to Ultrons intentions. Perhaps they could even be at odds with the existing Avengers. I don't doubt there will likely be two versions of at least some of the core characters. That would actually work, as long as they didn't tie it in too many knots. Ultron is a GREAT villain. ...Too bad though, I still wish for Kang the Conquerer. If you thought that idea seems a little convoluted to work, well...the comic would be tenfold of that. |

I like Ultron, but a bit fed up we've not got Thanos! Thing with these marvel films is they all seem to be getting a bit repetitive, Iron Man 1 I enjoyed, 2 was so, so, and 3 was terrible.
Too many machines for my liking in these films. Thor, The Destroyer, was more like an Iron Man robot to me, like Thor has a chance against The Destroyer anyhow! He was made to take on The Celestials. New Wolverine film, rubbish again, Silver Samurai was basicaly an Iron Man suit again. Alien invaders in Avengers were rubbish, Hulk was like King Kong (Hulks my favourite character btw) and after the excitement of Thanos I end up with Ultron. And the agent of Shields series, no comment! I loved Joss Whedon's Buffy, Angel, Firefly, and even really liked his Atonishing X-Men comic book series, but not overly a fan of these marvel things he's doing, too much humor for my liking. I want it more serious like Sin City or Watchmen ;-( |
It doesn't matter to me what premise the filmmakers go with for the Avengers sequel as long as it's as entertaining as the first movie. Admittedly, I am as much of a geek for a great super-hero movie as I am for anything great to come from the sci-fi or horror genres.
