Don't start your blog with a post that says- Hi, I'm just an average guy, and um, I'm gonna write about some stuff, when I figure out what....

Come out with your guns blazing. Would you read a book that started like that? Would you come back to a blog like that?

I'm going to have to disagree with Neverending here, I think you should have an intro, Vod. It can be a short one, but I think you should state your intent. What are you going to be writing about? Will it just be about guns?

Much better- does your blog have spellcheck?

I wasn't saying there shouldn't be any kind of intro- but one that says basically nothing isn't helpful in getting people to come back.

Make your blog compelling from the get go- otherwise, why should I read it over the 18 trillion other blogs out there?

No, its more an open ended pop culture blog. I was just inspired by NE saying i should comeout with guns blazing. Its a blog post and a smart ass response in article form :)

I hope it doesn't seem like I'm picking on you- mistakes in published works are a pet peeve of mine.

i will have to check the Word copy I wrote to see if that was my mistake or theirs. I read through it myself and it irritates the hell out of me that it made it past the editors....

Do you get stats on how often your articles are used?

I often find spelling mistakes and grammatical errors in books. The biggest one being "till". I've said this before, when you mean the shortened form of "until", it must be spelt like this "'til". Because it is an abbreviation. It has an apostrophe and one "l", as the work "until" does.

NE, I think so. I get paid a buck for the first 100+ word post I do every day, then 2 cents for every view or comment (now i dont remember) for the blog, and $1.50 for every 1000 views of my article(s) from associated content, so both must have a way to track how often it gets looked at.


Although if my time spent over at cracked.com has taught me anything, its to keep your eyes peeled for plagarism. Several of the writers over there have had their stuff copied without credit by other sites.

word to the wise, if you ever copy and paste from cracked.com, give them credit. You will get a nasty email if you dont.
