Bit of sad news for Mothman, Gorephobia, Angra...
UK, July 28, 2008 - Tony Jaa has apparently gone AWOL from the set of Ong-bak 2.
According to Variety, the producer of the martial arts sequel held a press conference on Friday and told reporters the Siamese actor - who is starring and making his directing debut on the film - had been missing since June. The film was running behind schedule and over budget, and according to Jaa's family, the kick-boxing sensation had been suffering from stress and gone to meditate in the jungle. The film generated serious buzz after footage was shown at Cannes this year, and Prachya Pinkaew - who directed the first Ong-bak - may be bought in to edit the footage and direct any additional scenes to ensure the film can be released. He said "Jaa has little experience directing. He's spent nearly $7.8 million. The film is almost finished, so I'll try to see what I can do with the footage that he's shot." Well...let's just hope for the best! |
Wow..... That's quite shocking news for me.

I'm a HUGE Jaa fan, I doubt he's out of money or downtrodden... I bet there was just a small village in need of a hero.

Or maybe he met Chuck Norris in the jungle and they've been figting ever since. |

Nobody is safe while Chuck Norris lives.

I wish I was a celebrity...cuz who doesn't want to run away and meditate in the Jungle for 2 months when things get all stressful.

I don't like his haircut. It belongs to the 70s. Except for that minor detail, i can't wait. Could have done without all the weapon fighting tho. I just wanna see him "kick" ass. But i guess he needs a challenge. :) |
UK, July 29, 2008 - Following news that Tony Jaa had apparently disappeared from the set of Ong-bak 2 because of behind-the scenes problems, the director/star apparently appeared on a TV talk show on last night to offer his side of the story.
Early reports suggested that Jaa had overspent and disappeared into the jungle to meditate. The martial arts star refuted the claims however, explaining that he didn't abandon the picture, but was rather pursuing "his artistic quest". According to Variety, Jaa broke down while saying that he hadn't received the money the producers were claiming, and that it was simply a misunderstanding and he had proof of all his spending. Of his disappearance, he explained "I went away to focus on the artistic angle of the film. I make this film not with the number and figures in mind, but for its artistic quality. I invest my effort in it with almost spiritual devotion." Jaa is now set to embark on talks with his producers, in the hope that the film can be completed in time for its December 5 release in Thailand. |
Tony Jaa is the most athletic man in the movies today, sadly, he hasnt had a big break yet. he's in some ok ones and some bad ones too - (The Protector)
Ong bak was fun, too bad he ditched the second one. |
Well I am glad he is alright now and hopefully he can get his flick out there.
