*GASP!!!!*

here's their website

Pennywisdom.com

Hate_Breeder 02-18-2005 04:47 PM

Yeah i semi like them....they've been around for a really long time but no one liked them until now it seems like

I remember when i first saw the "Same Old Story" video and no one had even heard of them...

majorbludd 02-18-2005 08:23 PM

they were an unbelievable band....their original bass player died...jason sumthin....i don't think i would've made it thru high school without this music....pennywise....sick of it all....rancid....h20...orange9mm...and tons more..

knife_fight 02-18-2005 08:33 PM

I don't know, I doubt they are as popular now as they were in their "heyday." When I was in high school (mid 90s) they were selling out the big clubs around town (as in, not quit auditoriums, but not your local watering hole either).

but to be honest, I never really liked em. sorry.

I LOVE that video. kid goes out skating basically.

ItsAlive75 02-28-2005 07:29 PM

I got into em after I listened to "Land of the Free?", then I bought their other albums and said, "Gawrsh! These are exactly the same!" I didn't buy the new one, that band needs to think of a better message than "Fuck authority." That's what twelve year old kids say when they don't know anything about George W.

majorbludd 02-28-2005 08:01 PM

yeah...but they really can't change who they are at this point, musically....it is a little goofy that a bunch of guys in their late 30's....maybe even early 40's...are still fightin' the man in their songs...especially after they've reached moderate commercial success...but thats the type of music they make....you can have a melodic punk love song...but only one per album...if they weren't enjoying making albums and performing at this point...they wouldn't be...although i haven't bought one of their albums since 1995...and haven't seen em' live since probably 97...what they're doin' today deserves props no matter how old they are...

you also gotta think...when it comes to punk...metal...rap...whatever...there always crops of young fans comin' up...so bands like pennywise are bein' listened to, and seen...for the first time by some kid everyday...thats probably another driving force behind these bands...

I dont realy give a shit if you guys dont like them. the point is is that I love their music, and I love to listen to it for what it is.

Well sure you care what we think, you asked us what our favorite album from them is. You're bound to get some negative feedback, we're not tryin' to be assholes.

Hate_Breeder 03-02-2005 07:21 AM

I really only liked like 3 songs from them....after awhile, their songs all start to sound the same to me. Most of my friends dig them a lot more than i do. I really like "Wake Up" though

majorbludd 03-02-2005 07:44 PM

everybodys got their own opinion..but you guys probably never heard their old albums...93 and before...even 95 wasnt bad....this band kicked serious ass...i remember seeing them live cover "nervous breakdown" once...by black flag...im crazy and im high!

that shit rips

The Mothman 03-02-2005 07:48 PM

my fiend went and saw them live. I was suposedly some crazy shit. He said that they made the crowd split in half, and then charge directly at eachother.

o how I envy my friend lol

ItsAlive75 03-08-2005 01:22 PM

I remember back in high school I went to a Thrice concert at this old bowling alley (back when Thrice wasn't big) and in the middle of the concert somebody threw a bowling ball up into the air and it landed in the middle of the crowd.

SOMEHOW nobody got realyl hurt, but that kid got the piss beaten out of him.

Moral.... No more concerts in bowling alleys.

The Mothman 03-08-2005 01:34 PM

at my old school, when I used to be into metal and stuff, we had them play a hatebreed song at a school dance lol. We formed a small mosh pit, but it was still pretty crazy. I got thrown around so much, that my button on my pants popped off and hit someone in the face LOL

Pennywise has been awesome for a really long time! I have been listening to them and Bad Religion and NOFX since the mid 90s.

Full Circle is not only the best PW, but it is one of the best all around albums I've ever heard! Absolutely killer from start to finish.

-Best PW songs-

Run for you Life
Bro Hymn
Pennywise
Final Day
Nowhere Fast
Perfect People
No Way Out

Elvis_Christ 08-20-2005 10:13 PM

I really dig their album About Time. Most of their shit just sounds the same these days. Its like they've put out the same album for the last 10 years.

The Mothman 08-21-2005 07:58 PM
