I'm sure way back when it was supposed to be a joke but now it's really just a game of who can come up with the most clever thing to say.

And is that the same case with the "Why did the chicken cross the road" jokes?

The only time iīve laughed at a joke like that, was in the cinema watching "Last boyscout", in the scene where Willis is using a hand puppet. Remember that joke anybody? Oh man... What an awsome movie....
But ever since when i think back on that joke i just think "What the hell was funny about THAT???". Guess everything is always funnier in the cinema?

Well imo the knock knocks can be creative and slightly funny at times, you might even catch one that'll really make you laugh but as for the chicken crossing the road stuff I just find that to be lame.

You know, personally, I don't give a flying fuck IF the world doesn't find our humor...well humorous. If they/you don't get our jokes that's not my problem. Case in point:

Two penguins were taking a shower. One penguin drops the soap. He looks at his buddy and says, "Hey could you hand me the soap?" His buddy looks at him and replies, "No! What do I look like a type writer?

Makes no sense. You're supposed to be like, "What?!" and then chuckle at the stupidity.

I'm not angry or anything, I just was a little put off by the notion that the Americans and British are bad comedians (on a broad scale...not just famous funny people) because our jokes don't make sense. That doesn't make any sense.:p

Well, fortunately american and english humor is more than "Knock-knock" & "Why did the chicken" jokes.

U DO have humor, thatīs one of the reasons why i keep comming back to this place for instance. But the knock-knock chickens have never gone abroad.

Thatīs about the gist of it.

And yes, iīm pretty sure i speak for all on the other side of the planet.;) :D

I'm pretty sure the rest of the other side of the planet would tell you not to speak for them.

And then they'd make a knock knock jokes.

Dude, EVERYBODY makes knock knock jokes, its not really considered a "cultural" thing.
