Well, the first week's nominated film, Troll Hunter received 10 solid backings from HDC members, so it is a recommendation for everyone who hasn't seen it yet. (Related LINK (http://horror.com/forum/showthread.php?t=64474))
For this week, I have chosen the controversial Del Toro effort, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark.

Essentially a remake of the cult classic TV film from 1973 of the same name (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069992/), the film released to mixed reactions from horror fans the world over. Some lauded the scripting and the daring muted violence portrayed in it, others thought it disappointed and didn't live up to the original's promise & premise, despite it's R-rated certification.
If you ask me, I thought it was a solid little entertainer. Despite it's flaws, it kept me seated for the entire duration, something which most recent films haven't been able to do. Maybe because I haven't watched the original yet, had a lot to do with the above.
