Nope. I listen to a bunch of "mainstream" rock stuff like this from time to time. GN'R are a bit overplayed for me but I like to listen to 'em every now and then especially Use Your Illusion I for the Duff McKagen tunes.

Hey I allways think that the only gunners with real attitude were Izzy and Duff.

Totally they both got the 70s NY punked out rock n' roll thing down.... Dead Boys as fuck! Duff is a really talented musician crazy how GN'R was like his 10th band or something  Dust n' Bones is a really overlooked tune and easily one of my favorite tunes by those cats.

I used to really like his first solo album have to grab it and give it another spin and see how it holds up. Briefly heard Izzy's solo stuff so don't remember to much about it...

Whatever happened to Izzy? Seems like he kinda burnt himself out.

You heard Adler's Appetite? I was wondering what that'd be like. Sounds like a bit of a glam rock trainwreck :p

Yeah, they're great! Check them out. My favorite song by them right now is John The Revelator released on the Playing the angel album. They're amazing live, so much damn energy. Here's them playing Personal Jesus:

I think that the album that Duff did with Neurotic Outsiders was great, pure fun and more punk than the Spaggetti incident. Even the first album of Loaded rocks!

Izzy, yep he gets burnt, and its sad: the first album with the Ju Ju hounds was great (mix the faces with something from NY dolls and that's it). The cover of preasure drop was great, better than the clash cover. But now he just want to sell his solo albums on itunes and make some tours on Japan...the only think good it's that he reject the offer to became a member of Velvet Revolver (what a fake band)
I can't listen to Adler's apetite, 'cause is very har d to remember that Stevo was part of GnR and now is just a ....well a shadow of hisself.

Yeh Velvet Revolver are pretty lame. I think I would've got into 'em more if Layne Staley was the front man (but that sadly couldn't happen) I can't stand that STP guy. Those guys just sound like your typical boring radio rock band. Shits got no balls like their other stuff. Have you heard the Hollywood Rose CD? Its pretty mean some great tunes on there... kinda sounds like Judas Priest at times, totally killer demo.

Velvet Revolver has always just been 'ok' to me. I might have gone through a phase of giving them too much play, but all in all, nothing special. I definitely don't think i'd miss them if they quit playing or anything, but I enjoy Contraband for the good tunes on it (Sucker Train Blues, Do It For the Kids, Big Machine, Illegal I Song, Slither, Fall to Pieces) but other than that... meh.

I will say, Velvet Revolver is a good band to see live. Made for a decent rock show that didn't cost too much.

Elvis_Christ

My friend whose obsessed with GN'R went to see 'em and thought it was a dope show. I was just hoping for something a little more old school sounding. I listened to Contraband a bit when it came out but it never grew on me.

I don't know modern rock never really grabs me these days. It kinda peaked in the 90s and just became derivative and by the numbers. Shit like Bush, Live and Creed really hammered in the final nail into the coffin.

I preffer Anthrax with J.Bush. Belladona was too melodic. If you want to get their best cd's with him try Sounds of white noise, We've come for you all and of course : The greater of two evils (they covered their classic stuff live on a studio with J. Bush)

Great, mostly soft, wonderfully orchestrated songwriting punctuated by occasional dissonance. Lots of rich instrumentation and some great guitar work, taking her cues from people like Link Wray, George Harrison, Gary Burger, and other great 60s players.

I really enjoyed her first record, and this one definitely doesn't disappoint.

Well I took the decision that if I want a cd I only will get it from ebay or similars. The last album that I buy here (Heaven and Hell : The devil you Know) was for 18 euros, so it's no so strange that we were one of the first countries on ilegal downloads.

Yeh I have to get most of my stuff online. There's no good record stores in my town anymore, one of the big chains brought out the great local store then it went bust leaving us with nothing :(

There's a couple of junk stores that get the odd decent LP in and there's a couple of mainstream stores but they don't get anything interesting in. I grab the odd cheap bin gem on CD but that's about as exciting as it gets.

I miss digging around for records...

I'd love to have the cash to start my own store the town's just screaming out for one.

I'm out of town for the week so I'm lookin' forward to digging thru some record stores

That's Blood of a Young Wolf - really cool song.

I've yet to give Situation a listen just yet, but I'll let you know as soon as I do.

I've been a fan of his for a long while now, but I only know assorted songs - never actually listened to a full album. Highly recommend checking him out though, if you're into this kind of music.

So yeah...I'm not super impressed with Situation. It's solid, but more typical hip-hop than his usual stuff - I've always liked how his work his pretty offbeat from the norm, with lots of different musical flavours.

Its a good album, but coming from someone like Buck 65 it seems a bit too generic.

That style of hardcore isn't my bag anymore. I like stuff like Ringworm and Harm's Way but I tend to veer towards the 80s sounding stuff/skate/fastcore.

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_1FfeEq4IS8I/Sj_TyVhbSLI/AAAAAAAADDU/35nT3Yf2pVc/s400/cover.jpg

This was put out a little while ago by Light in the Attic records, who have been doing some really incredible re-releases this year (like the Monks' Black Monk Time, along with some Os Mutantes, Karen Dalton, and Betty Davis records).

Also I happened to find a great (and coincidentally French) France Gall import.

A good day.

gorgoroth, cant even pronounce the album name, just got it coz it was a cheap download.im ristricting myself to only buy records at the mo.this was an acceptance being a band im not that into.and metal doesnt impress me as much with the record player as do the rockabilly/psychobilly i usually thrash on it

ok iv listened a few times now,the music seems a bit over produced for me.i like black metal coz of the rawness and a raw screaming.aparently this is one gorgoroths more produced albums though id like to hear there earlier stuff with "pest" a different vocalist.

Haha yeah I've been building up a collection that covers everything I've liked over the years and picking up anything else interesting looking along the way.

Holy shit, Elvis. That's an insane haul. Wow, nice!

I was pretty stoked with that lot. The local theatre has a yearly fundraiser type deal. 2 LPs for $1 plus DVDs and CDs for $2. Got there early and stood in line for ages with all the other geeks but it was well worth it. I didn't expect to find half the stuff there I did. Will definitely be hitting it up again next year. Pity I've run out of cleaning fluid and I can't listen to a bunch of them yet.

Some were cheap & some were expensive. I'm always digging so I trade/sell a lot stuff I turn up. You can do pretty well once you know what sort of stuff to look out for. All the best shit turns up at op shops you've just gotta time it right.
