Well I have been working on this for quite awhile now. And although I have a good enough starter list all ready on my Excel worksheet, I would still like to have a few more suggestions from you folks.

Except Rayne. I know she loves even the bad ones, and she wont have many suggestions for this particular endeavour. :p

This will start once I have plenty of filthy stinkers to fill the coffers. Then we will let the scum out and vote for the worser of the two (or three) stinkers till we find the ABSOLUTE WORST horror movie EVER MADE.

So ummm yeah, let the suggestions start rolling in!

I gotta say.... It's fairly predictable how this will turn out. While not everyone's opinion, House of the Dead really does hold an exceedingly high ranking for worst horror film, along with Manos: The Hands of Fate. Just a thought.

You will be surprised by the number of fans who actually adore House of the Dead! Not to mention that some of them think its a very decent and competent Uwe Boll effort. I don't think it will take the crown, but it would be a pretty strong contender no doubt.

And so would be...uhm...The Village.

it'll still be interesting to see what people put forward.

the only problem is most people - especially the younger members wont have seen some of the most truely horrible ones - because they are hard to find..
(if they were good - they'd be everywhere)

i think thats why a lot of good films hget beat by lesser films in tourneys - because people who havent seen them vote for the one they have ...

a night to dismember is the worst i've ever seen. and i've seen a huge honking pile of bad movies (i own a lot of them)

one more thought - maybe there should be some parameters .. i.e. budget ..

i could make the worst horror movie of all times when i get home and win this thing ... we should restrict it to budget/studio films...(ones almost everyone has heard of)

Doc Faustus
10-15-2008, 12:33 PM
Anything by Todd Sheets. Everything by Todd Sheets. Uwe Boll at least has some budget and the actors in his movies have got to be having fun, otherwise, they wouldn't do it. I would also like to add the abyssmal Track of the Moonbeast, the clueless the Offseason (with a misused Angus Scrimm)and the terminally stupid Red Riding Hood.

Ooh looking forward to this one....;) Zombie Nation!

I have plenty. But anyway, I agree with Urge, there is bad and then there is....BAD. I often find funny what others consider the worst movie ever, because well, I have seen so much worse. ;)

one more thought - maybe there should be some parameters .. i.e. budget ..

Very valid point. Let's see if we can have enough of the stinkers which are quite notorious in the genre.

Ones like Jason Goes To Hell, Halloween Resurrection, Jaws The Revenge, Freddy's Dead: Final Nightmare, Exorcist II hmm...there are plenty of "popular" horror stinkers, come to think of it. :D

Anyway, keep em coming! And rack your brains for the stinkiest ones you ever saw, and which made you almost spoon your eyes out!! :)

Near Death
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0371846/

The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies!!?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057181/

(A lot of people defend that one by putting it under the "so-bad-its-good" banner. Even though it probably has the greatest title of all time, the movie has NO redeeming qualities. I couldn't even laugh at it.)

Essence of Echoes
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0295244/

The Covenant
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0475944/

(Not sure if you can really count that as horror...but it definitely counts as God-fucking-awful)

I left off the "so bad they're good" ones and just went for the worst of the worst. If we're keeping the fun kind of garbage in here, you can't forget:

- House of the Dead
- Killer Klowns from Outer Space
- Puppet Master vs. Demonic Toys
- ANYTHING by Ed Wood (Plan 9 being the obvious)
- Dark Heritage: The Final Descendant (this one actually transcends "bad" and goes on to a whole other plain of being)

I can come up with more if you're so inclined :D

Il Cartaio. If anybody but Argento directed it, it would be a shitty movie, but since Argento directed it, it's a shitty Argento movie and that pissed me off. Also, Attack of the Giant Leeches. Perhaps it's so bad it's good, then it goes around to bad again. Not too much fun to be had. Also, Stanley. How did they do that one wrong? A ripoff with Willard about a vengeful Native American Vietnam vet and his snakes and they STILL messed it up.

Killer Dwarf, Day of the Dead remake, the POINTLESS Psycho remake, Redneck Zombies, Scrapbook, The Stink of Flesh, Island of the Dead, Evil Dead Trap 2, Filthy McNasty, Hollywood Strangler Meets Skid Row Slasher, Last House on Dead End Street, Leprechaun, Nekromantik 2 (what a disappointment compared to the original love story), Automaton Transfusion... and that's just a beginning!

I'm waiting for the next match...the only one I've seen from this bunch is Doom, and I didn't think it was that awful. Wasn't great by any means and I can't imagine I'll ever watch it again, but it was sufficiently entertaining for a mindless action movie.

I hear that it utterly butchers the games...but I've never played 'em, so that didn't effect my opinion...

PS - I can't believe that Boo got shut out. It starts out with a little bit of promise (I didn't mind the first half hour or so), but it went down hill so fast I think they broke the sound barrier.

This one is so bad it baffles even the best of bad-movie lovers, and wtf was Rutger Hauer thinking?!

The same thing he was thinking when he made Bone Daddy - "Is it payday yet?"

Shamalammadingdong get's my vote(probably should get some kind of career award).

Didn't see Bleeders, and I don't think The Village is half as bad as everyone says - it was just poorly marketed. It's not a masterpiece, but it wouldn't get nearly as much shit if the trailers didn't make it look like the scariest movie ever made.

My vote has to go to Soul Survivors, mostly just for that gem of a tagline:rolleyes:

GRRRR...THE VILLAGE!!!

That was NOT a HORROR MOVIE!!!

Only one person died, and it was a freaking ACCIDENT

No one even stubbed a TOE

Oh, one little stab...And the guy recovered

WHAT THE HELL?!

Hence my point - had they advertised the movie that it actually was, it would have gone straight into Rayne's "I'll-Never-Watch-This-Because-It's-Not-Horror-And-I'm-Super-Closed-Minded" pile.

You know I love ya ;)

i dont care about the horror or lack of it..

the performances were horrible...William Hurt was embarrasing..
and Bryce Dallas Howard was god awful too ...

i didnt like the story - i didnt like the little deliberately misleading things that were thrown in that only served the suprise ending (the old style language)

it was like a poorly made twilight zone ripoff that could barely have survived being a 20 minute short.

M. Night was too wrapped up in giving a twist ending - to provide a story that was of any interest.

I agree, I actually think some scenes were set up pretty well, but that just make it all the more disappointing overall.

the village was pretty bad. I found a tiny bit interesting on second watch but only because I had a fever so high I was halucinating.

Was Soul Survivors the one where the girl kept seeing her friends who died in a car accident but in reality it was all in her head and she was on life support? If so, then I vote The Villiage. If not, then I vote The Villiage.

The Village scores 13 putrid and rotten eggs and wins the most hate, Soul Survivors gets 3 smelly tomatoes thrown at it, while Bleeders surprisingly gets plenty of love!!

I didn't find Jaws 3...Terrible. By all means it was bad but it was a new idea for it, instead of another film of kids getting the shit kicked out of them in the same town by the same breed of shark. And it was just meant to be a bit of fun.

But having not seen the other two and I do think it's bad,

Jaws 3.

Bloody Murder

No movie should be able to use the word "bloody" in the title if it has almost zero blood or gore unless its pretty damn good and makes up for it in other ways. ;)
