Did I miss something? No wheat? Going gluten free, are ya?

I've actually given up wheat and all grains. Nothing really to do with gluten. It's called the wheat belly diet and since I've been on it (about a month), I've lost about 13 lbs and have stopped having chronic joint pain. My blood pressure has dropped and I sleep better. Don't really care about the weight but no joint pain is great!

So last night I was BAKED. Long work hours for the week due to one of my coworkers being off...it was time to relax, the night before my ONE. DAY. OFF (that being today)

River was asleep, Spal and I were between watching things and just doing our own stuff...so I went into the kitchen at some point after midnight.
I knew I had some lamb chops in the freezer...not the cutlet type ones, yknow, the big ones.
So I threw them in a stone pan with a lid on low heat thinking...ok...just throw on some salt and pepper, you're good to go.

As I stood around in the kitchen still pretty much in a tired/stoned daze, I started to go through other ideas.

So,

Lamb cooking slowly. Salt. Crushed black pepper.

I went to my dry herb and spice supplies.

I threw on some dry-fried crushed corriander seeds.
Rosemary from my mothers garden that we air dried some time back.
Cumin seeds that I slightly crushed in my fingers before putting them on.
Oregano.

I let that sit for some time...after all the lamb started out frozen.
I turned it over, Nice and brown on the surface.

Now usually I'd try to serve lamb a bit pink, yknow if I actually wanted to do it right. I knew this was going to be over, and I was ok with that.

When I flipped it...I added a bit more pepper.
Then, I was still in the kitchen and still thinking so I grabbed some more things from the fridge.

Some goats cheese with thyme.
A lemon.
Some habanero paste.

I mashed the goats cheese up with a fork, then started whipping it.
Added some lemon juice. TINY amount of the habanero paste, and about 1/2 teaspoon of the oil that the goats cheese was stored in.

Spooned this mixture on top of the lamb and let it sit, continuing to cook in the sealed environment.

I was going to leave it like that.
Though I saw some really nice browned pan juices underneath the lamb...so I turned it over, goats-cheese-mixture facing down...everything just bubbled up together and more or less emulsified into a beige/brown cream-ish sauce - kind of similar to what you might see on a veal scaloppine.

So yeah anyways.
Quite nice. Certainly hit the spot at the time...though I probably savaged it a bit quicker than I'd have liked to. But hey, we both liked it, so job done.

Hindsight: I'd have foregone the salt...the goats cheese kind of made up for that, and while it wasn't "too salty" the level was a little more than I'd have liked.
I wouldn't have minded putting some finely sliced button mushroom and super-finely-sliced single clove garlic in there too.

You guys ever try that? Single clove garlic?
It's more full flavoured but less spicy than most varieties. Check it out if you can.

Thank you for reading my long rambling improvisational recipe.

Right now I'm sitting down to a small toasted bread roll in which is three chicken fingers, some ghost pepper cheese, green Tabasco, a slice of my crispy dehydrated cinnamon apple I made last night, and some "sweet baby rays" bbq sauce.

It's like less than 1%, and 3% habanero.
Fair enough. It's pretty volatile stuff.
It's nicely balanced, "fairly" hot, but yknow absolutely nothing on a hotter sauce.
The cheese I believe, was made so that non chilli lovers might have a small chance to taste these peppers without collapsing into a puddle.
I was surprised at the restrain shown.

Feeling ill so just chucked some things together in a pot. Sausage, bacon, baked beans, sweetcorn and some liquid smoke for flavour. Felt like ever such a cowboy.

This morning I've had some nutella on fresh baked bread, and I'm making my way through a Twinings English breakfast tea. Strong. I prefer loose leaf...

Last night we kind of made a small roast dinner. Nothing too intricate.

Anna baked: Some potatoes that turned out perfect...lightly seasoned, and Japanese pumpkin with some nutmeg, brown sugar and salt.

Both the potatoes and pumpkin had an excellent bake on them, crispy, slight skin separation, creamy flesh.

I threw in a leg of lamb, which I stabbed at several fleshy points, inserting 1/3s of garlic cloves, fresh lemon thyme, dried rosemary. Scattered a bit more rosemary over the outside, rubbed on some salt and pepper.
Nailed this one. Pink/Brown. Great moisture retention. Cooked fat side up which rendered nicely through leaving just that awesome crispy top.

Today, I look forward to throwing some leftovers on some rolls I just bought from a local bakery.

I mean it sounds like you had a mixture of flavours and textures. Protein and vegetables. I'd say you're good.
I actually rate a persons kitchen prowess by just that ability "to throw shit together", extra points if it's something that's actually alright.

I am having McDonalds breakfast.
The River and I are sharing a BLT muffin (you guys have those?) with a sausage burger on there.
Hash Brown.
Something called a "breaky wrap" which has bacon and what they call scrambled eggs on there.

I added a little BBQ sauce mixed with habanero to mine.
Black coffee - Added whipped cream @ home.

We just got done making a cheesecake...well, almost done anyway...

Chocolate ripple (that's like a simple crunchy chocolate biscuit/cookie) base with a little cinnamon and orange zest through it.

The filling was a 50/50 mixture of marscapone & cream cheese with a tin of condensed milk, vanilla, more orange zest and a touch more cinnamon.

1/3 of the recommended lemon juice content replaced with orange juice.

Very small amount of gelatin thrown in the mix.

Spal is making a mango/orange gel to put on top, and we'll be putting some toasted coconut over everything.

We made one big one, and some little ones in glasses for family.

It was ;)
Pretty good, though I will say with the addition of the mango on top it took the whole thing in quite a tropical direction - the chocolate base kind of clashed a little. Still good though, I just have ideas on how best to handle it next time.

Took the kid to breakfast/shopping this morning.

She had her Babycino and "kids" pancakes which were ridiculously huge for any "child" under the age of about 12...in that I looked at this and thought I could share it with the wife for a light breakfast...anyway...

Thse pancakes came with some sliced strawberry, vanilla ice cream and maple syrup - the perfect combination for what I'm sure is going to be some awesome behaviour later today.

I had a black coffee, one raw sugar.
I don't really order stuff from menus, I kind of just tell the guys what I'd like based on ingredients I see that they have.

One peice sourdough, one peice soy and linseed toasted.
Fresh untampered-with avocado.
Goats cheese.
A lemon wedge. A little side serving of diced tomato.
