Has anyone seen the re-make of Omen?

If so, what are you're thoughts?

lots of people have as mentioned in several other threads.

it wasnt a good remake .. some bad casting, and a waste of the people who were cast perfectly.

there was no way the origional could be improved upon - a dumb choice for a remake.

I think I'd give it the distinction of being the worst horror remake I've ever seen. The original Omen was great, but this one was terrible. There have been many bad remakes, but I personally haven't seen one as bad as this (and hope I never do).

The thing about The Omen remake was that The Omen (1976) still holds strong today. It didn't need jazzing up, it didn't need special effects, it didn't need a higher budget. It didn't need an update.

So when I watched it, I just felt like I was watching the same story by a different director within the same period of time (like the Exorcist prequels). It was a bad use of money, and whoever had the idea was too eager to hold off. "Remakes are hot right now, so we can't wait any longer! Isn't 30 years enough?! No one watches shit from the 70s anymore!"

And don't get me started about how uncreepy the new Damien looked.

Summary:
The Omen (2006) was a premature ejaculation.

Sorry. I don't get alot of time to browse online so I didnt get the chance to check out any other threads.

It seems to be the norm these days now. Re-makes are nothing but crap and a total waste of money for all concerned.

I actually don't think it's a horrible film. Just really, really unnecessary. You won't suffer watching it. It did the original no harm, but did nothing for itself.

I would have to agree with alkytrio666, this movie was very unnecessary. I just recently watched it on DVD and I couldn't stand it. I felt like I was watching a updated directors cut of the film b/c the scenes were almost frame for frame the same and most of the major lines were exactly the same. Also the acting was horrible! There were a few changes to the death scenes and some weird flash scenes that were different but that was it. Plus the new Damion was not creepy at all and he was hardly in the film. The movie was supposed to be about him but he was hardly in it.

There is one death scene that made me cring up, its when the Nanny goes to the hospital to visit Mrs. Thorn after she falls. The Nanny injects an air bolis into the IV line, you watch it slowly go through the IV until it hits Mrs. Thorn. That scene really got to me b/c I'm a Nurse and that is one of my biggest fears whenever I start an IV or give meds in an IV is an air bolis.

Here's a more-than-generous review I did of the movie when I first watched it in the theater...you might want to check it out...

The original is by far one of the best atmospheric horror movies ever made, IMO. The remake, well...lets just say...its decent...and I m being more than magnanimous when saying that.

This movie freaked me out the first time I saw it, so of course I had to see the re-make!
....especially since Liev Shrieber(sp?) was in it.
It wasn't too bad, didn't have the same eerie feel as the original.
I can honestly say I will never re-watch it.
