Isn't Radiohead going to be at Bonnaroo this year? I would love to go, but tickets are too expensive. Last show I saw was Thrice and about 10 other bands at Taste of Chaos in Atlanta February 28th '06.
Next concert=Thursday,Mewithoutyou,Minus the Bear,We.re All Broken May 21st in Nashville.
North Mississippi Allstars
They played in a little club with about 80 people attending.....it was great.
Also took my kid to a MudVayne/SevenDust concert in December.

The Musical Box
a world famous Genesis cover band from Montreal.
they play Genisis concerts .. note for note .. the way they were origionally played - recreated from video footage, stills, and memory. (nothing post Gabriel thank god)
they have the same costumes, they physically look the same ..
its amazing .. a great way to see the band i always wanted to see.
the concert they performed when i saw them was The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.
i think that was my last concert ...

Last concert I went to was Ministry with the Revolting Cocks. It was a really fun time, the R.C. had a pretty entertaining stage show, complete with a two hundred plus pound hooker in a g-string and pasties. And since it was in an enclosed theater, I couldn't hear for two days afterwards.
Can't get better than that.

- Kanye West
- Sloan (Couldnt care less about either of these two)
- Alice Cooper (AKA the coolest musician of all-time IMO)
...and the headliners:
- The Rolling Stones (!)
Now even though the first two acts are kind of shit, the other two more than make up for it. Really wish I was going...this is actually the 2nd Stones concert Ive passed up 'cause I had no way to get there...

For sure. Glen Benton is a tweaker. We just don't get any Death Metal down this way (especially international stuff) so I'm amped on it. A couple of their albums are mean so it should be a cool show. Be real keen to see a Cattle Decapitation show!

I saw a Mojave 3 show a few weeks ago in Boston. Realized that they're a really good band, but I like their CDs better than their concerts. It's just not that interesting to watch guys be quiet and mellow on stage. The make great music, but boring to watch.
About two weeks before that, though, I saw The Mountain Goats totally tear up The Middle East downstairs in Cambridge, MA. Maybe the best concert I've ever seen.

Wasn't a "concert" in the traditional sense, all comedy songs. Heywood Banks. FUNNY stuff, man some of his songs slay me. Like when he sang I gotta gal with just one leg. Whatever you do don't call her..." Audience: "...Peg" "At least I didn't say Mrs. McCartney. Then (to the tune of Blackbird) "Paul's wife hoppin' around in the dead of night... take off that wooden leg and learn to skip." Anyway, it was all a lot of fun.

Yep, and they were both merely O.K. The singer of Dir en grey sounded like King Diamond, and he was kind of annoying. Their music was pretty rockin, but it got old fast. The Deftones fucking rocked. I can't believe they opened with Passenger . It was a weird opener considering Chino basiclly sings back-up's, and I'd just seen Maynard 2 days before.

Mainly instrumental with great guitar distortion, in the vain of my bloody valentine etc... any way the next two bands where really crap, then came Glasvegas , the headliners, they didn't sound nearly as good as there recordings.
I think the venue just pretty much had shit sound....
But anyway, the night went on and I got totally munted!

So since they have reformed and come to visit me I thought I might aswell check them out.
The first band were a local act called Hey Enemy, they were mighty good, fitting the theme of the night with there post rock/hate core sounds and relentless energy..
Next was Black Sun who were more of a doom metal sound and I found a bit boring and ended up outside smokeing cigaretts.
Finaly Unsane played, they were brutal, total Carnage, fuck yeah!

Did I tell you I wentr and saw Frank Black, it was cool, I am such a huge fan of his.
The night he was playing I had just hurt my back at work and got on some major pain killers and wine and don't remeber the gig to clearly, but it went something like this.
He is doing pre core shows on this tour, which is him giging around town for free in public locations before he plays his gig.
The main show is basicly the new album and new e.p which he is launching... but dureing the pre core he is playing various pixies songs and others from his solo career.
I just wish that he focused on his solo career rather than includeing the pixies tracks though as he has around 12 solo albums and I had never seen him before. So, why try and apease the pixies fans when you are your own man... anyway, because of my back I only made it to the last precore of the day though he did three in Glasgow.
I'll post the links.
I even got there late for the one I made it to but was only standing a foot away from him as he sang "where is my mind" which was pretty fucking sweet.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRV8_4iwWWo
At 5:10 you will see me walk up and take a sharp right at the back then
I came in and planted myself right next to the guy with the guitar...
These are the two earlier in the day I couldn't get to, fuck the timeing of my injury...

That's in Ashton lane which has a cool little cinema on it and some pubs etc.. it's a seriously small lane, all coble stone, but a bit of a hub in Glasgows wet end.
Then he went to Blythswood Square in the top of the west end in the city before he made it to the big issue offices... I am so pissed I couldn't wal earlier in the day!

I've been to a few gigs in the last couple of months, I just hadn't gotten around to writeing about them here..
The Fall
I went to see the Fall play for the first time at a place in Glasgow called the Ferry. So called as it is an actual Ferry or at least was, it sits on the water, up stairs is a bar and a mezanine, and below is another bar and a stage.
I got there far to early because I was trying to get inside Mark E Smiths head, I thought he might come on early this night as it was a Sunday and and it was thier second night in a row at the Ferry.
So I drank Pint after pint of guiness, finally a support band started, they sucked big time, but there wasn't really any escape, more pints, another support band, these guys weren't to bad, I can't remember the name right now, I'll enter it later.
Finally the Fall came on about 10:30, It was an awesome gig, they were mainly playing stuff from the last 4 albums, I was just amazed to be in Mark E Smiths presence.
They came back for a one song encore and ripped through "Totaly Wired" which just blew me away.

I went to a couple of gigs this week, I always forget to write about them here.
Thursday night I saw Swervedriver play at King Tuts, the venue was really a bit small for there sound and I had to give up my spot at the front of the stage for somewhere near the middle of the room to get good sound. It was a great set though.
Last night I went to see Robert Forster. He was one of the two song writers from the Go - Betweens. I almost missed the start of the show. I called the venue at about 7pm to find out the band times and they told me there was one support and Robert would be on around 9, but this info came from some one in the restraunt so I phoned back at 10 to 8 and get told there is no support and Robert is starting at 8pm.
Lucky I live near the subway and I was there half way through the first song.
It was a great set as well, he played lots of his old Go -Betweens classics and mixed in with old and new solo material. The set went on for 2 hours and he is a man with a very dry wit which fits perfectly with his music.
A little New Orleans funk tonight....just got back from some MOODOO

Just got back from my 2nd Alice Cooper show...easily my favourite artist of all time, and there is NOTHING like seeing him live. PLUS we had front row seats, which makes it a million times more intense - close enough to see his makeup start to run
Nobody can put on a show like that man, it's just beyond description. I was a little disappointed that he didn't do I Never Cry this time, but the rest of the show was more than enough to make me forget all about it.
Some highlights:
- He sang a verse of Woman of Mass Distraction directly to my girlfriend.
- He threw "diamond" (hah) necklaces into the crowd during Dirty Diamonds, and we caught one.
- One of his guitarists got pissed at me 'cause I was taking pics of Alice and not him...he made faces and upset hand gestures at me the whole show.
- I'm Eighteen. I dont care if he's closer to 80 these days, this is probably his best song live. Just...damn!
His opening act surprised me too - Vancouver band called Econoline Crush. Hadn't heard of 'em before, but they rocked; I was super impressed. Their frontman was a lunatic, great showman for sure. Obviously picked up a little bit from ol' Alice.
Just a great, great show all around. The man is always touring - if you get a chance to see him, DO IT. I'm sure a bunch of you have already at some point, but if you haven't...it's an experience like no other.

I totally saw alanis Morissette last Saturday. She's pretty hardcore live. Mostly a crowd of lesbians making out and when she sang Ironic she sang "Meeting the man of my dreams and meeting his beautiful.....husband."
Only in Canada.

I went to see Mogwai in Edinburgh last Tuesday night. I jumped on a bus after work and headed over there, we had a few beers at the Black Rose Tavern ( some metal/punk bar) and then headed to the venue.
The played a good range of songs spanning over their career includeing some of the best parts of the new album. They even played "like Herod" which blew me away.
It was one great night.

The last concert I went to was Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Devildriver, and Soilwork at the Fillmore in Detroit, Michigan. So it's been a while... but great show regardless.
Edit: I take that back I just remembered that I sawUnearth, Bury Your Dead, As Blood Runs Black, My Children My Bride, and The Destro(I think that's what they were called) at the Headliners in Toledo, Ohio. Not a bad show but obviously not all that memorable.

Gwar
single greatest live show ive ever seen. best theatrics ever, a lot of work went into it. Im soaked in fake blood and sweat as i write this. people saw me on the streets walking back after the show and shouted 'GWAR!!!' out of their cars. what a blast that was, definitely see them if you haven't yet.

GWAR was fun. I saw them at headliners in Toledo awhile back and and got covered in fake blood, semen, puss, etc.... and you're right. Live they are hard to beat. But on the way back from the concert we got pulled over by the cops for speeding and we were all covered in blood and the whatnot and in the backseat 2 girls were passed out. He shined the light in and looked around and asked me to get out of the car at which point he asked me to explain myself. I told him we were coming back from GWAR and he said "oh... well then just slow it down" and he let me go. That's right GWAR got me out of a speeding ticket.

Damn...that's quite a long trip to see Maiden. I saw them once back in 1988 on the Seventh Son tour. I was 14. They play insanely tight live. Their stage looked like snow covered mountain tops with an ice age type of theme.... It was killer!
Have fun dude!!!

You're at the right end of the country for live shows anyways nothing much makes it down south these days. I'll have to make it up to Wellington sometime soon its a pretty cool city.

Iron Maiden
if this isnt the greatest live act on the planet then i dont know what is.
myself and 18,000 other die hard maiden fans were there witness Maiden's first NZ show is 16 years. I knew it was going to be big, because on the day of the show the streets of Auckland were littered with people in Maiden shirts, everywhere you looked. on top of that, on my flight from wellington to auckland i was accompanied by about 3 dozen people in maiden shirts. I got to see Ed Force One as we landed too.
