Great! I would have liked to have been at the show played last night where, Gary Numan was the guest singer. They played Cars and Trent's version of metal. Are you a big NIN fan? What's your favorite song/album of NIN's?

I travelled down to MAnchester last weekend to see The Fall. Maybe the last time I see them, hopefully not. They never come to Australia though and there where I am going to be from September on.
The bus took 4 and a half hours, the air con wasn't working and I only had half a bottle of water so it was a bit of a hellish trip till we finally stoped an hour out of MAnchester.
I got into town and checked into the backpackers I had booked then went searching for a pub that was showing the cricket. after about 40 minutes of walking by posh bars and sports bars that were showing the golf I finally found this pub that had some serious old core interior. They had a net up below the cieling so it wouldn't fall on your head. they had the cricket showing on some mounted early 90's tv's. They served real ales as well as some belgium beers at a good price which was a bonus.
So I sat in there for the next few hours, then struck up a conversation with a guy called Doug out the backwhilst haveing a cigy, he worked at Vinyl revial down the road, he took me along to anbother bar closer to the venue where he was meeting some friends who were going to the gig.
I had a few more pints there and was feeling a bit pissed so started on the tequila. His friends headed of as the were worried they wouldn't get tickets, I stuck around and had a few more and then headed up myself...
So I finally got to the gig, grabbed a pint and 5 mintues later the Fall walked on stage...
IT was a good show, they played 5 or 6 songs that hadn't been recorde yet even. and that was 50% of the gig. most of the remainder was of the last studio album, so it wasn't exactly what I hoped for in a home town gig. But that was just as I never know when I will see them live again. The sound wasn't great which from my experience with them is a bit of a constant thing.
But the highlight was probably when they left the stage for what everyone assumed was the final time, but I still had half a pint and some hope and wondered up the front where there was a few others...
5 minutes later they burst back on and thrashed out "Reformation" which was just fucking awesome.
There were some guys outside selling unoficial merch after the show, they had some good hoodies for ten quid, I ended up talking them down to 5 quid for one... Then I got on a bus back to town and tried to remember where I was sleeping that night, but that's another story.

Absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt the best concert Ive ever been to. Combichrist were good, banging electro metal similar to Front Line Assembly but Rammstein were just stunning. The music was amazing and the pyrotechnics and stage set up were of the highest quality. Fantastic show.

Until Crack the Skye I couldn't get into Mastodon but that album really sold me. I think it's the prog elements that they incorporated as I'm pretty into my prog too.
On the subject of Rammstein who you mentioned above, I saw them in the Velodrome in Berlin back in 2004 - unbelievable stage show, one of the best live acts I've ever seen and pyros galore. I was disappointed with the new album though, the previous four were much better and I'm not even including Rosenrot as it was essentially a (terrible) collection of songs that didn't make Reise, Reise.
Rammstein overall are a great band, but the last album really let them down I felt although Rammlied and Ich Tu Dir Weh are both reasonable, if only with the latter for the very eerie start up!

My last one was the weekend before last, at the local fairgrounds. Ted Nugent was there. The rain was coming down is sheets, however he still played. The local police had to drag him off the stage. We were all not happy, as neither was Ted. However, the reason for stopping the show, as the police said, was for safty reasons. Naturally, none of us got a refund, of any kind. So that blows. Ah well, I got to see about two hours of the show anyway. Last year, Led Zeppelin was there, which i saw the entire show of.

The whole set was heavy as fuck, I thought the drummer was very good but I wasnt impressed with the vocals. It seemed he was getting too much help from the microphone as he didnt have the vocal power, plus he kept pulling stupid gurning faces of all things, just didnt sit right. Still enjoyed them though!

Just saw Rammstein last week for the first time in MA for the Made in Germany tour. It was the second best "arena show" I'd ever seen, second only to Nine Inch Nails' Fragile 2.0 tour back in 2001 (that was almost life changing).
If you're a fan of pyro, then Rammstein's the band to see live.

I was in downtown Phoenix the night he performed there, and he had- no kidding- thirteen semi-trucks parked around the place. Probably even more behind the building.

Yeah, I saw close to a dozen trucks the other night. It's crazy. Having to rent and haul all the stuff and pay all the people to drive and setup everything...it must cost him a small fortune just to do 1 show.
He's been saying this will be the last Wall tour he's going to do, and I wouldn't doubt that having such a large stage production doesn't have something to do with that.

great concert [music wise] but here is a little post I made on facebook after the show....it's a bit long so I don't expect any ADD people to read it::stick out tongue::
I'm thinking my Big Venue concert days are over. We got to the Orpheum at about 7:05. The place was pretty empty.... made our way to the beer stand and purchased a $13 22ounce Bud.Headed up 3 flights of stairs to our balcony seats. Apparently when this place was built, adults were the size of 12 year olds. After stuffing myself into the seat with my knees almost hitting my chin, I prepared for a relaxing concert experience .Looking around we noticed the balcony was less than half full so the three of us Mark,Ricky and myself spread out, leaving a seat between us.Not too bad. Within five minutes the balcony was full to capacity so we lost our little buffer zones. The band came out and whoosh ...everybody was on their feet. Ok...I get that...no problem..we will stand for a couple of songs then settle down and get comfy....hell I worked a hard 40 hr. week. I'm guessing nobody else did because we stood for the whole first hour plus set of which I missed about 20 minutes because I had to deposit 22 ounces of Bud into the urinal. The line was out the door....in the men's room...wtf. After finally making my way in and out of the bathroom, without losing my shoes on the sticky floor, I waiting another 10 minutes for a $13 22 ounce Bud....of which they only had the nasty light lime variety left.
Back to my seat now and wait for a overly long intermission. Bands back and whoosh.....back on our feet. I'm assuming a lot of people fired up during intermission because the dancing started. The fool next to me was really invading my space with his arms wildly flailing about.....then he notices me and gives me the "high five" sign. Anybody who knows me will tell you...I don't "high five". So not to leave him hanging I gave him a pathetic "low five". 3 songs in and we get a slow song.....people start sitting down....alright...this is more like it. Except the couple directly in front of me....they continue to dance...by dance I mean more of a slow rocking side to side kind of Walking Dead zombie shuffle. I really didn't pay $55 to look at their asses. Another scorcher of a song starts and whoosh....screw it..I'm sitting for this one. The girl behind me started her dance but it was much more violent than the zombies in front of me and at one point she hit me in the back of my head with her ass, hard enough to knock my hat off. I'm back on my feet now and Mark says " you want to get a beer after we leave here" . This was right when the encore started so I said " hell yeah ....let's go now"...especially since they closed the bar after the intermission. Made our way out to an overcrowded place around the corner and had a pint.

In the same week in early December I was fortunate enough to see both The Naked and Famous on their "In Rolling Waves" tour at the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire and Bo Burnham's final show on his "What" tour.
Both were incredible. Whoever was in charge of lighting for TNAF needs to get some recognition - stole the show, gave each song its own unique stage presence.
Burnham was strange. Heard one person on the tube afterwards saying they were "worried about him" and I must say I could see it. Perhaps he was just tired after a VERY long tour, but he seemed far more melancholy and introspective than before. His cyncism came across as more disillusioned than entertainingly facetious. Still, the lovely chap's put it on Netflix for free!
EDIT: Shit, totally forgot. The following week I also saw Hanson. Christ alive they were brilliant. Played a mixture of old and new, full of energy, really interacted with the crowd. There was a nice section in the middle of the show where 2 of them would leave the stage and leave one to do his own song - nice to have each one get their moment.
That and Taylor Hanson's butt.

KASHMIR last night in Plymouth NH. Wife thought I was losing my marbles or slumming when I told her I got tix to a Led Zeppelin tribute band, but they were really good, capturing the vibe dead on. 23 songs and almost three hours. The usual suspects played and some deep cuts also. Cool venue/crowd and nice meet and greet after the show. Justin Hayward Plymouth NH 8/19/15. Really like The Moody Blues, but even my wife, a HUGE fan, agrees with me they have been sleepwalking the last 20 years with the endless orchestras/additional players. Wonderful show last night with basically a threesome with JH on vox/acoustic gtr, Julie Ragins on keys/vox percussion and the amazing Mike Dawes (who also opened) on guitars. Despite very stripped down, sounded great with some new material, the old vintages and some never played songs. Sometimes less can truly be more.

Saw The March Violets with opening band Pawns yesterday. Pawns were decent and The March Violets were awesome, sort of. They have two singers and the guy was obviously not able to be nearly animated as he was 30 years ago. The woman was amazing, still had all of it. Some of the songs they did, though, were off of their latest album which came out about two years ago maybe 20-25 years after they stopped. Its was not very good.
The bassist for Pawns was wonderful to watch. She has great straight black hair and was slightly shaking it while rocking to the music. While listening to Pawns I hear Joy Division, Corpus Deliciti, and Danse Society without synthesizers. The March Violets are the March Violets, pioneers of goth and all that.

Collective Soul/Soul Asylum-8/10/18. SA were OK, CS rocked it and had an almost psychedelic screen presentation enhanced by Ed Roland (My wife was amazed at how much he looks like Joe Walsh now::shocked::) constantly flashing the "Peace" sign. Three Doors Down were the headliner, but it's been a long week and didn't want to fight the crowd on the way out, so just these two.

BLUE OYSTER CULT-Capital Center for the Arts, Concord NH 11/3/18
Third time in a little over a year and they just keep getting better. After a employee of the Cap Center laid out basic info, another guy came out to introduce the Brooks Young Band. BYB were all decent players with about 5 songs and good covers of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and "Miss You". Probably the most CHEERFUL band I've ever seen, lots of big grins.
Although BOC played a lot of what You would expect, they played with true passion (Even the dull "Buck's Boogie" was helped by some new arrangements, including a Deep Purple-Ash GTR/Keys back and forth and little Bass/Drum Solos) and raiding the songbook with rarely played songs lately like "Career of Evil", "Dancing in The Ruins", "ETI", "OD'ED on Life Itself" and the magnificent "Hot Rails to Hell". During "Don't Fear The Reaper", the same guy who had introduced Brooks Young was onstage playing Cowbell. Wife found out the next day, it was NH Governor Chris Sununu, which I guess is one way to inspire votes.

American Vinyl All Star Band-Flying Monkey, Plymouth Nh 3/8/19. A sort of Sup er Group with Jeff "Skunk" Baxter (Doobies, Steely Dan, many sessions) and Barry Goudreau (Boston, RTZ, Orion The Hunter) on GTRS with Leroy Romans (The Wailers) on keyboards, Tim Archibald (RTZ, Peter Wolf) on Bass, Robert "Mousey" Thompson (James Brown, Wilson Pickett) on drums and Danny Beissel (Featherborn, Foster Child) on vocals. Really tight rocking show of material from all their careers with "No Woman No Cry". "I Feel Good", "My Old School" "Night Train/Land of 10000 Dances", "Blush" and "A Man I'll Never Be' standing out. Nice meet and greet afterwards

Blue Oyster Cult 8/24/19 Flying Monkey Plymouth NH
Wife is a huge BOC fan (12 times since 1978) and got Third row seats. Band played well and seemed to be looser than usual. Only beef I have is a LOT of the same songs played from last few shows (although "Dr Music" opened the show and a new one from upcoming album) and while Classic Rock bands have the songs that they HAVE to play, a group with such an extensive catalogue should have more options. But the nearly sold out crowd certainly enjoyed it.
Best part for us was meeting Richie Castellano (GTR/Keys/Vocals) outside the venue (going to dinner) and after the show along with hellacious long time drummer Jules Redino.

BJ Thomas-Laconia High School Auditorium, Laconia NH 9/13/19
LHS auditorium has had other performers from the last few years like Peter Noone (Herman's Hermits), Mary Wilson (Supremes) and Denny Laine (Moody Blues, Wings) and although it might have seemed a comedown, for Me, a gig is a gig. No admission and first come first seated.
Good show overall, but many of the same songs-and Stage patter- from last couple, b ut no slacking off and band great helped out by a horn section. Played the usual hits, but threw in an awesome "Knock on Wood" before Jackie Wilson's "Higher and Higher" closed the show.

Not really a fan, but wife loves the hits, so we got second row center again-don't know how she does it. Gary looks great-slim and energetic and other musicians very good. His voice very strong and besides the singles (opening with the 20th Century Fox fanfare into "Lady Willpower"), also played covers hat were on the 60's albums like "Kentucky Woman", "Lady Madonna" and "The Mighty Quinn".
Wife went to Manchester NH with a couple of friends to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra last night and she said it was awesome. A lot of activity from someone who had knee replacement surgery a few weeks ago.

Actually managed to get off work, so had tickets in the back as got them last minute, but different perspective of the show and they were as good as ever, although I wish they would trim a few numbers from the first two albums.
Still, solid playing throughout and a nice acoustic portion they played after intermission with "Tangerine" standing out.

Like a lot of CT and great seeing them in a smaller venue (1300 seats). Solid last night with Robin Zander's voice still strong and vibrant . Rick Nielsen still wild as ever with solid playing, prowling the stage and throwing probably 100 picks out in the crowd. truly enjoyed "Big Eyes", "California Man", "Out in the Street" (theme from THAT 70'S SHOW), "Never Had a Lot to Lose", "Need You Love" and "Surrender".

Classic Stones Live-6/25/21 Flying Monkey Plymouth NH
First concert in almost a year and a half and most enjoyable evening. CSL are a Tribute band with "Mick" and "Keith" looking remarkably like the genuine article. Joined by six other players and certainly had the sound down , playing a little over two hours. Realized how long it's been when they took an intermission and I first thought that was the show::embarrassment::
Some people have busted my chops for seeing a Tribute band, especially if the "Real" article is out there. Can't see having to spend a fortune on tickets, traveling to Boston/spending the night and knowing they will not sound like they did. Plus many of the Tributes sound just fine
A Co-Worker got Eagles tickets for $700 each which I think is outrageous...At this point, there is a limit and $100 each is really it

Hall and Oates/Squeeze- 8/9/21. Bank of New Hampshire Pavillion Gilford NH
Saw H&O two weeks after getting married (2/85) and despite being more of a Headbanger (Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Scorpions etc), they put on a excellent show with Daryl Hall exuding more confidence than 20 singers.
Two years after a severe Electrical storm cancelled their performance, they were back and while a lot of hits were played, it was a short set, only about 14 songs with a LOT of patter by Darryl that seemed more about taking up time as well as bitching at his Guitar tech close to the mike. About five people from work/gym have the same outlook as I did, so at least I did not feel like I was nitpicking.
Despite all the minuses, They sounded really good-Ace Band they had- and John Oates really is a better singer/ guitar player than given credit for.
As far as Squeeze, only know a couple of tunes. Very good players, but almost too loud for the venue and also was disappointed KT Tunstall had to back out as was looking forward to seeing what She could do.

Alice Cooper/Ace Frehley 9/18/21 Bank of New Hampshire Pavillion Gilford NH
Good double bill that was pretty good, despite the aggravation of getting decent tickets and the all but extortionary fees that LiveNation tacks on. Crowd was cool, but could smell pungent cheap weed throughout, especially when the row in front of us was handing a joint off up and down the line.
I loved KISS back in the day (still enjoy those albums) and think Ace is a good guitar slinger with a unique vibrato style, but He really has not progressed as a player since the late 70's. Decent playing though with a good band, but only 8 songs played with only one new one (in a medley) and very heavy on KISS material. Oddly, He wrote many decent songs in his tenure, but bypassed a lot to play songs like "Strutter", "Detroit Rock City" and "Deuce". "Rocket Ride", "Cold Gin" and "Parasite" (especially) rocked great, but where was "Rip It Out", "Rock Soldiers" or "Strange Ways"?
I don't think Alice can play a bad show and good form last night, using the cool stage from the last tour. At first thought He was going to play the same show as last time, but three new songs from DETROIT STORIES and very nice hearing "He's Back (The Man behind The Mask)" -seeing Jason Voorhees as well. Solid set with his excellent band who all rocked out and seemed to be almost giddy to be playing again, especially Nita Strauss whose exuberance was contagious.

Went to The Sandwich (NH) Fair on Sunday with the Wife. Nice day, Cool people and SO MUCH FOOD::shocked::! Had an enjoyable time and caught a couple of musical acts before leaving, with Stage Mentalist/Sword Swallower Roderick Russell-a big hit with the crowd- in between:
Marcy Drive Band- Basic Bar/Cover Band, but good playing by all and really sizzling by the finale of "Folsom Prison Blues"
Don Campbell-Popular performer in Northern New England (particularly Maine) has a good country-ish vibe, reminded Me a lot of Vince Gill. Had a good sized Swag table as well, lots of Garment wear and CD's.

Get The Led Out-Friday 10/22/21 Colonial Theater Laconia NH
The Colonial was old movie theater that had been closed for over 20 years, but lots of upgrading and has doing very well since re- opening this past summer. Hoping this will be helpful to Downtown Businesses.
GTLO are a Philadelphia Band who aim to play Led Zeppelin songs as on the album with all the overdubs and extras added. They succeeded admirably with "Ten Years Gone", "Hey Hey What Can I Do", "All My Love", "The Wanton Song" and the magnificent "Nobody's Fault But Mine"
Only real beef I have (other than playing LZ songs I'm sick of by now like "Stairway To Heaven", "What Is And What Should Never Be" and especially "Ramble On", but that's not the Band's fault) was various members leaving the stage and coming back on midway through the songs then leaving again, which I sort of found distracting.
