Cmon Vod...how many people here are going to go with Fajitas simply because they don't have a fucking clue what Coq au Vin IS??
You're a funny guy, man...haha:D
People, as your resident (soon to be) chef in training, I thought I should do some research.
I'm not about to claim to have known what this one is already MYSELF even, I've hardly touched ANY french cuisine, well, I've eaten it, just not had the cause to MAKE much.
In the interest of expanding my horizons...and hey, yours too, here the basics;
Coq au Vin is a french dish, It translated almost exactly to "chicken in wine"...it's traditionally made with red wine, but can be done with a white for a variation.
Chicken, Onion, bacon, Lots of garlic and whole champignons (those are the little musrooms you see there), among LOTS of seasonings, varying dependant upon the region from which the specific recipe came.
Doesn't look TOO hard to make to me, just a little time consuming...
I think I'm gonna give this one a go, and let y'all know how it went.
Oh yeah, I vote for the Coq au Vin. Looks and sounds lovely, and french cuisine is usually fucking great.
Thanks for adding to my repertoire, Vod.

I've had Coq au Vin, I can't pronounce it to save my life but I was in a resturant looking over the menu and I saw it and it looked good so I pointed to the picture. that sounds like it might taste pretty good.
I asked Jeeves
Fried ice cream is sometimes associated with soul food, but is even more associated with fairs, carnivals and other places where food is served with little regard to negative health concerns due to the products consumed being considered as a snack or a treat rather than serious sources of nourishment. It is prepared by taken deep-frozen ice cream (ice cream which has been frozen well below the standard 0 degrees F at which ice cream is generally kept) and rolling it in a breading which is usually cookie crumbs. This breaded ice cream is then briefly fried. The low temperature to which the ice cream has been frozen prevents the ice cream from melting during the brief frying process. When served the product is generally still frozen in the middle but sizziling on the outside.

No, it's not.
It's a suckling pig, and a rather mature one at that.
I don't condone eating young animals either way...however, I ahve tried both of these, and on personal preferance, a spit roasted pig is great, regardless of age.
I wouldn't eat it too often, and mine would have it's head removed (god, the thing looks tasteless...), but yes, I'd prefer the pig.

Hollandaise Sauce is an emulsion of butter and lemon juice using egg yolks as the emulsifying agent, usually seasoned with salt and a little black pepper or cayenne pepper. Hollandaise sauce is well known as a key ingredient in eggs Benedict.
Hollandaise is famous as a difficult sauce to make well and to hold. Properly made it should be smooth and creamy, and if beaten long enough will hold its shape as firmly as whipped cream. It tastes very rich and buttery, with a mild tanginess added by the lemon juice and seasonings.
Bearnaise Sauce is a sauce of butter and egg yolks flavored with tarragon and shallots, with chervil, cooked in wine and vinegar to make a glaze. "A Béarnaise sauce is simply an egg yolk, a shallot, a little tarragon vinegar, and butter, but it takes years of practise for the result to be perfect," wrote the restaurateur Fernand Point (1897-1955), the father of modern French cuisine, in Ma Gastronomie. It is a traditional sauce for steak.
Like Hollandaise sauce, Bearnaise sauce is an emulsion of butter in egg yolks. The difference is only in their flavoring: Bearnaise uses a glaze of vinegar and tarragon, while Hollandaise uses lemon juice.
I had to look it up...I didn't know the difference:o

Literally more than half of my own recipes , including the ones you've seen have been through the same.
Cool, more Cheeba, I mean, Phalanx recipes! I copy them when you post them, I hope you don't mind, cuz I guess I'd do it anyway. :D

I've seen it.
I don't really watch any of the better known cooking shows religously...I find they focuss more on the "being a chef" bit (which is actually misleading, most of those guys own restaurants in which they can do whatever the fuck they want), and less on the actual cooking. It might be interesting to watch a guy swear his head off, or to see "how it is" or...how it supposedly is...for a while, but to be honest it all gets a bit boring to me.
I prefer recipes, demonstration of varied local cuisines and history in cooking shows. Probably my favoutire int. chef would be Rick Stein, who has more shows than I can count yet shows more passion in the subject matter than I've EVER seen out of ANY of the rest, it's more like watching a documentary laden with easy to complex recipes.
My favourite local chefs...a tossup between a guy called Neil Perry, and a chick called Kylie Kwong...also with a few shows and books of their own, each has one of the leading restaurants in Sydney...probably the only chefs from 'round my way I'd consider worth checking out. Unless you count the posers on our "ready steady cook"...Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of great chefs here...our whole massively multicultural deal and availability of interesting produce makes for some wonderful food...I just think in general, the whole "fame" deal hasn't quite caught up here...or could be no-one gives a fuck.

Personally, I would never last on Hell's Kitchen. I'd have to slap the shit out of the chef. I'm not cut out for that type of atmosphere I guess.
