i didnt see AVP but i wanted to...
And then i found out it was directed by the hack that did Resident Evil 2 - (a great movie for the hard of thinking)
So I'll probably see it on dvd some day ... and maybe my expectations will be so low by then that I'll find something to like about it .. but from what I've heard - its not likely.
Anderson, Boll, and Sommers ...
3 guys who should be zombie extras - not directors.

I never claimed to have good taste in movies, but I enjoyed both for what they were.Neither is even close to horror, but just plain old action/adventure.I'm not saying I would place either one on my top 100 list(or 200 for that matter) but I don't hate them.

thats the thing about becoming an old grumpy bastard like me .. you tend to set the bar higher :)
i always expect more from a movie then what I've been getting recently ..
I agree, it wasnt a horror .. despite the zombie theme.
The one thing i did think was funny was seeing my home town (Toronto) get blown up - and looking for other recognizable locations ..

Racoon City was Toronto?
urgeok

not only was it toronto .. the city hall near the end .. was actually Toronto city hall ...
if you see the shot where it explodes in the end you can clearly see the CN Tower and the Skydome (home of the once great Blue Jays) :)
DOTD was shot here, Land of the Dead is being shot here ...
I could name a dozen !
(the Fly remake .. mouth of madness)

Wait, wait, wait, Resident Evil 2 and AVP were bad movies that were only made to make money? Wow. That's some totally new and original insight you've got there, Tahman

funny, i didnt mind the 1st RE. It really had the feeling of a video game and the characters were somewhat more drawn.
I thought with RE2 they just wanted to be bad-assed - appeal to the basement dwellers who are glued to the game 24/7.
I thought it was far weaker than #1
and if you want to see Milla truely look hot .. you're better off watching the 5th Element ..

if there is any kind of justice in this world, he'll get beaten off of Alien 6.
I didnt realize that they were calling AVP alien 5 ???
yikes ! there goes the neighbourhood.
(and thats coming from someone who liked Alien Resurrection :)

I think that Fox is in the process of making a new Alien movie with Sigourney Weaver. They were talking as if it was going to be Alien 5. She absolutely refused to be in an Alien vs. Predator movie. She apparently thought it would comprimise her character in some way.
Yeah I thought AVP sucked too

i keep waiting for the alien that takes place on earth ...
I wonder if that'll be 5 ?
They could save some $$$ on set design and hire a decent director.

part 3 had a great director and it still sucked

a lot of people liked that one ...
I wont say its my favorite but i sure wouldnt say it sucked.
It had great acting, great atmosphere (sets, cinematography)
I just found it a little too claustophobic - even though thats what the director was trying to achieve...
For the record I can go way out on a thin limb and say that i liked Resurrection as well ... and never really understood why other folks didnt ...

I haven't seen AVP yet but I still kinds want to.
Obviously by my name i love the nemesis, I think he is a badass character, and I used to love RE but now it has gotten pretty boring. I loved the second movie alot and it was waaay better than the first. I thought it was really fun to watch and I jumped a couple of times. Also, the placement of zombies were great. But I still don't like the RE games as much but I still love Nemesis.
I liked Silent Hill alot better and I think they should make a movie on it.....I heard a rumor they were.
