Producer Martin Poll and screenwriter Larry Cohen have filed suit against 20th Century Fox claiming the studio stole the idea for the 2003 release "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" from Cohen's 1992 screenplay "Cast of Characters". The duo are seeking $100 million in damages.

Fox calls the lawsuit "absurd nonsense", stating that "League" and its characters are based directly on based directly on Alan Moore's graphic novel by the same name.

In "League", a team of science fiction and fantasy characters - including Dr. Jekyll, Dorain Gray, and Allan Quatermain - come together in Victorian times for a secret mission. Comic artist & Hugo-award winning graphic novelist Alan Moore ("Watchmen", "From Hell") wrote the screenplay for the Fox film along with fellow comic artist Kevin O'Neill ("Hardware").
