In a tribute to the skyrocketing popularity of horror movies ("Freddy vs. Jason", "Jeepers Creepers 2", and "Underworld" have all opened at number one in the last few weeks), Ford Motor Company has launched a horror themed website to help boost the sales of one of their automobiles.

The site for the Ford Sportka appears to be promoting a horror movie called "Evil Twin", featuring a fake MPAA rating (P for Possessed), dark graphics, creepy sound effects, and even a trailer. When a user first visits the Flash-powered website, the page reads: "From the director of 'The Demon' and 'Menace' - 'Evil Twin' - The triumph of evil over good." The site also features fake images from the film, script pages, newspapers reviews, wallpapers, and other stuff usually found on a horror movie website.

The fake movie trailer, which features a clip from a real car commercial showing on British TV, has gotten Ford in trouble with animal rights activists. In the clip, the Sportka smacks a pigeon with its hood, killing it. The Royal Pigeon Racing Association (it's a real group, not part of the joke) is not amused by the images of the evil car attacking the innocent bird, and they have called for the ad to be banned.
