Although the special 2-disc DVD is set to be released this Spring, the producers and filmmakers behind the documentary on Freddy Krueger are working it right down to the wire. With an attention to detail and an exhaustive cast of interviewees, Never Sleep Again looks to be as good as, if not better than, its predecessor His Name Was Jason: 30 Years of Friday the 13th.

I was lucky enough to see some of the filming a couple of weeks back in Los Angeles at the ultra cool location of Flix FX, Inc. ANOES veteran in the Special EFX Department David Miller led a walkthrough and interview with Mike Becker, who is perhaps the ultimate Freddy fan and foremost collector of related memorabilia.

Becker brought several pieces from his extensive collection, including original lifecasts of actor Robert Englund's face and many of the gloves used in the films… including the very first one, from 1984. The story about how this bit of movie history was obtained by Becker is very interesting indeed, and it will be revealed in the documentary. In the meantime, check out our exclusive photos.

Becker also brought some of the wardrobe worn in the films.

Miller muses about working on the films, while Becker asks a few questions about the materials used to make the props.

Director of Photography Buz "Danger" Wallick captures the moment.

At the conclusion of the shooting that day, Becker was presented with a special, one-of-a-kind signed poster. L to R: Assistant Annette Ashlie Slomka - Co-Director/Producer Daniel Farrands - Mike Becker - Co-Director/Editor Andrew Kasch - DP Buz "Danger" Wallick.

From the 'Never Sleep Again' official website:

Child murderer. Dream demon. The bastard son of a hundred maniacs. Any way you slice it, there can only be one man, one monster, who epitomizes those words:

Freddy Krueger.

For decades, Freddy has slashed his way through the dreams of countless youngsters, scaring up over half a billion dollars at the box office across eight terrifying, spectacular films. What's more, it has become evident that Freddy may never rest in peace.

In this thrilling retrospective, fans will enter the world of Freddy Krueger and A Nightmare On Elm Street like never before: exploring what spurred mastermind Wes Craven to craft the first groundbreaking film; delving deep behind the scenes of the original and all of its sequels; learning how the cast and crew brought their worst nightmares to life; and finally, understanding the impact the series and its mythos have had on modern pop culture and the horror genre.

Narrated by and starring Heather Langenkamp, featuring interviews with the cast and crew spanning every film, and loaded with clips, photographs, storyboards, conceptual art, publicity materials, archival documents and behind-the-scenes footage, Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy is the definitive account of what many have called the best, most frightening and imaginative horror franchise in motion picture history.
