Horror fans can now get their fear fix via satellite. On Wednesday, Cablevision launched a nationwide high-definition satellite TV service offering an exclusive 24-hour horror movie channel called Monsters.

Cablevision's Voom Satellite Television offers 21 free channels, 12 of which are exclusive to Voom. These include the Monsters channel, which Voom claims is "dedicated to the scariest thrillers, chillers, maniacs and menaces in skin-crawling high definition." In addition to the 21 proprietary channels, Voom will also offer the usual - including CourtTV, Discovery, VH1, MTV, and Showtime (though no HBO - at least, HBO wasn't listed at the time of this article).

The cost for the service: $749.99 for the equipment and installation. All programming is free through the February 2004, then a fee of $39.90 will get you all the basic channels (including Monsters) plus one "PlusPack". More information can be found at the Voom website.
