The Absence of Light: on DVD

Distributed nationally and internationally through California-based York Entertainment (who took it to the Cannes Film Festival in May), The Absence of Light is the debut feature film of Ohio native, Patrick Desmond.

Starring a host of legendary actors including Tom Savini (Grindhouse), David Hess (The Last House on the Left), Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes), Tony Todd (Final Destination), Caroline Munroe (Captain Cronos: Vampire Hunter), Rick Scarry (Desperate Housewives) and Tom Sullivan (The Evil Dead, Splatter Movie: The Director’s Cut).

A world-weary killer-for-hire going by the name “Puritan” (Richard Conant) takes his “last job”: a pair of corporations—Division 8 and “The Plague”—are at war over a devious piece of sophisticated software dubbed “Devour”. It seems that “Devour” will give the user the ability to rewrite any code… including DNA. Now, the jaded operative is stuck in the middle of a situation he can’t possibly comprehend… and if he isn’t careful, he’ll be contributing to the end of the human race as we know it!

This horror/thriller arrives on DVD for the first time courtesy of York Entertainment and boasts over 3 hours of bonus material including: introduction by Michael Berryman, exclusive Caroline Munro interview, two commentary tracks (Track 1, director Desmond and stars Michael Berryman, Tom Sullivan, Robyn Griggs and Rick Scarry; track 2, Desmond and cast members Richard Conant, Rebekah Gardner, Linda Orick, Mark Cullison, Gary Dile and Michael Bradley), “Let There Be Light”—an in-depth making-of featurette, a detailed Digital FX and Physical FX featurette, deleted scenes, and rare behind-the-scenes footage—Plus a bonus hidden Easter Egg. You find out more at the official website for the film.
