The anticipation over the upcoming "Dawn of the Dead" remake is so great that when a poster surfaced on eBay claimed to be from the film, people were clamoring to get a look at it. The artwork is eerie, featuring the face of a child zombie along with George A Romero's name and "Dawn of the Dead" across the bottom.

When DJ Xavier Michaels wrote to Universal regarding the poster, they responded, "ThePoster, I can guarantee that whatever it is, it is not official. There is no final key art for this film yet." Many sites ran stories debunking the poster based in info from the US branch of Universal Pictures. Other sites debunked the debunkers, claiming the poster was authentic.

Apparently, the folks at Universal weren't aware that "Dawn"'s Japanese distributor, Toho-Towa, had created their own promotional poster. According to James Gunn, the artwork is causing controversy in Japan because of its representation of an innocent young girl as a flesh-eating zombie. This is strange, as Japan is not exactly known for puritanical views on movie violence, but true - as is the poster.
