Day of the Dead

Today I bought the Divimax (two disc set) Day of the Dead. It's loaded with extras, uncut, and has a pretty interesting booklet inside from the files of Dr. M Logan :). I think I'm one of the few but I think Day might actually be the best in the triology, obviously it is graphics wise but I really liked the atmosphere..... when watching it I felt trapped as well.

Yep, you r alone. itt's definatley not the best.

just kidding. i didnt like it as much as the other two, but i'm not saying it doesnt have its merits. I actually like it a lot, just not as much as the others. The set sounds cool, though. I'm glad i havent purchased any of them yet :)

I would like to see a special edition of NOTLD with both versions and commentaries about why they kept some things, changed others blah blah blah.

When mentioning the extras, don't forget the commentary by Roger Avery. There's nothing funner than listening to a film geek talk film (I know, I listen to myself all the time).

I would just like to add that Romero's worst is a helluva lot better than most people's best.

Gotta agree with that. Day of the Dead wa the first Romero zombie film (and first serious zombie films unless you count ROTLD as serious lmao) and was desparate to see the other films. Still havent Dawn of the Dead :(
BTW Vodstok your avatar is bringing back bad memories *starts crying uncontrollably*

The booklet is more of a collector's thing, it has some nice drawn pictures of zombies but basically it's just an overview of the movie from a movie critic...some of the information was interesting though if you didn't know much about the film. The best special feature on the second disc is the two making of documentaries. The first one is an in depth view of how the movie was supposed to originally be and has lots of interesting info. The best part of it is seeing how they did the special effects with Tom Savini, this was very entertaining because before I saw it I had no idea how they pulled off some of those gruesome kills. The other documentary is dedicated to just Savini and show a lot of the behind scenes make up with zombies. I bought it for $20 at Circuit City and it was definetly worth it.
