will there ever be a true sequel to dawn of the dead

I have always loved the dead movies up until day of the dead. I always wanted to see a movie that went along with the same characters as in dawn of the dead and im not talking about the remake. They fly off in a helicopter and then what? Shit the day of the dead what the hell did that have anything to do with dawn of the dead. The goverment were experimenting on the zombies ok but what happened to the charachters in dawn of the dead, That shit pisses me off. Land of the dead the dead actually can go through large bodies of water and they begin to think. I donyt understand why romero cant write or somebody else for that matter write a good official sequel to the dawn of the dead. The land of the dead was a stupid piece of garbage.

I agree on Land of the Dead. I thought it was sort of rehased trash, and couldn't see why so many people enjoyed it. But then again, it seems every zombie movie rips off of it's siblings in most aspects.

I enjoyed Night and Dawn (original and remake), because they brought something deeper to the table. The amount of stuff related to the world in Night alone amazed me, even the accidental stuff such as casting an african american in one of the lead roles (it wasn't scripted that way) to make it metaphoric and controversial.

Land of the Dead brought nothing new to the table, and I felt bored the entire way through. Smart zombies pissed me off.

Speaking of the zombie genre as a whole, the entire thing is very badly thought-out. As it stands, the staple food for zombies is flesh and brains. Why? Don't ask me. Why can't they eat grass, or food in the markets? Hell if anyone knows. The fact they won't die unless you hit them in certain parts of their bodies is also shitiful.

Shoot them in the arm, leg, chest, anywhere and NOTHING is effected. Shooting them in the brain kills them. I can see a reason for that.

As I see it, zombies are just regenerated human beings. They're bodies are restored to life, and their organs begin to function once again. If you shoot them in an organ, that organ should stop functioning and effect the zombie as a whole. If it's leg is cut off, the severed leg SHOULD NOT move. It couldn't. It is not attached and makes no sense for it to move since it's muscles and tendons are detached and out of service.

Of course this whole train of thought it silly, and you might say "Shut the fuck up, it's just a movie." But I dunno, I like to rant about things and share my opinions.

the little girl in night of the living dead killed with a tool ... (a trowel in the basement)

that made her a smart zombie from the get go.

i think the people making these films didnt get hung up on the logic .. they just wanted to present a movie that would scare people and gross them out (and in romero's case also adding a little social commentary)

the 'rules' were made up to serve the story line ..

ok you got me on the night and the dawn not tottally drawn out. I like how in the first one its in the farm country not populated by many but the second one spans off into the urban choas bigger city bigger problem. The main idea dissapears why did they turn into zombies. Every film from romero hasnt explained the orgin of the zombie. One point there. the second is Land of the dead what was the whole stupid idea of a fortified metropolis of rich people living in a tower guarded by a fence so zombies cant get in. Stupid ass plot I dont care about a fortified city I care about what happened to the people on a island to seek refuge or what happened to the people flying out on the helicopter. Wasnt there Talks or rumours of a Twilight of the dead thats a hell of a lot better title to a decent zombie flick than land of the dead.

There are reports of these creatures using tools. The use...of external articles as bludgeons and soforth...I might point out that even animals will adopt the basic use of tools in this manner. Intelligence? Seemingly little or no...REASONING power...what basic skills remain are mainly remembered behaviors from normal life.

These creatures are nothing more than pure, motorized, instinct. We must not be lulled by the concept that these are our family members or our friends. They are not; they will not respond to such emotions! They, must, be, destroyed, on, SIGHT.

Agreed on Land of the Dead, and it demonstrates how a film as raw, unpolished and personal as Dawn of the Dead simply cannot be made today - at least not via a major studio.

Cheap thrills and gloss is the order of the day, as the recent empty, cheaply thrilling and glossy remakes of the old classics clearly show.

Also, the likes of Romero, Carpenter and Hooper are older now, less passionate... more digital. I have often wondered what it would take for one of these men to create as much of a stir in the horror scene as they once did - but somehow it seems impossible.

So far as a sequel to Dawn of the Dead goes, it is a nice idea, but as a firm championer of inconclusive and thought provoking endings I cannot agree with it.

Who cares, there's plenty of other zombie movies that I think are way better than Dawn anyway. Just pretend the fucking chopper hit a building and they all died.
