Klown Forever (2015)
B- Follow up to Klown The Movie, based upon the Danish series Klown. It's about two sort of friends and stuff they get into. I think I liked it more than the previous one. Romper Stomper (1992) B Been ages since I've seen this one. Proper Aussie skinhead action drama. It was my introduction to Russell Crowe. Here he plays the leader of a violent gang of skinheads. |

The Mummy
This movie traumatized me as a kid and I never fully watched it, but some friends wanted to watch it and I figured I had a change of view in horror enough to handle it, and I did. I liked it a lot better now than I had then that is for sure. Relied heavily on CGI, but for it's time the effects weren't horrible. There were several cliche characters and plot holes, but over all it was a decent remake. It's enjoyable if you like a classic cheese flick.

Home Movie (2008) I.M.D.B. In the remote woods of Upstate New York, David and Clare Poe are attempting to live an idyllic life. However, their twin children's bizarre behavior might just tear the family apart. Adrian Pasdar carries the movie with his performance. It's difficult to make a 'found footage' performance seem natural and compelling, but I think he pulls it off. Unfortunately it's about the only thing this movie has going. The movie pulls all of its punches, and suffers greatly for it. 5/10 In the Mouth of Madness (1994) I.M.D.B. An insurance investigator begins discovering that the impact a horror writer's books have on his fans is more than inspirational. Remembered it fondly but haven't watched it for 20 years. First time watching it as an adult and I really enjoyed it. It's a clever little movie that's really enjoyable to watch. 9/10 K-Shop (2016) I.M.D.B. A kebab shop owner's son, Salah, turns vigilante after his father's death in an effort to clean up the relentless onslaught of boozed up thrill seekers waging war on his doorstep. Perhaps a touch long, but it was an enjoyable movie. Doesn't quite capture the intensity of such interactions with drunk British 'hooligans', but Ziad Abaza's performance is compelling enough to keep the interest going. 7/10

The Hundred Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared (2013)
original title: Hundraåringen som klev ut genom fönstret och försvann (2013) A "After living a long and colorful life, Allan Karlsson finds himself stuck in a nursing home. On his 100th birthday, he leaps out a window and begins an unexpected journey." Great Swedish film. I know it sounds strange but it's like a mix of Forrest Gump and Guy Ritchie movies like Snatch or Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels. I recommend this one. |
