Interview with Actor Peter Wafer
Staci Layne Wilson/Horror.com: How did you get involved in the film Bloody Bible Camp?
Peter Wafer: I was originally only meant to work behind the scenes, I just love the atmosphere of being on set and jumped at the opportunity to work on a movie with Reggie Bannister.
I suppose the title probably says it all, but I must ask... What's the movie about?
Peter Wafer: Well! The film is set in a Bible camp. Except it's not an ordinary Bible camp, this one has an interesting history involving a transvestite nun, High school kids, and some quite shocking deaths. Gone are the days where a simple ruler would suffice in disciplining outspoken children.
Who do you play in the movie?
Peter Wafer: I play the young transvestite nun played by Tim Sullivan [pictured with Peter, above], back in the days when he was a sweet innocent altar boy being scorned by a vicious nun played by Gigi Bannister.
Seems like there are a lot of hot-button themes in this flick… which one do you think will be the most alarming?
Peter Wafer: Yes, there certainly are MANY hot-button themes in this movie that may raise a few eyebrows but when you see ityou will understand why it's so hard to pick just one that stands out. If I had to, without giving too much away, there is an 'interesting' kill in the movie involving a preppy high school girl and a crucifix. Think: The Exorcist.
What sticks with you the most, after completing your first substantial role in an American horror film?
Peter Wafer: From this project especially what sticks with me the most is how important dedicated crew and cast are to a project. The cast and crew of Bloody Bible Camp in particular worked so unbelievably well together. Everybody was like one big family by the end and it just makes everything run smoother and the whole experience more enjoyable.
Is it correct you first worked with John Landis… what was that project, and how did it come about?
Peter Wafer: I have not actually worked with John Landis but I had the honor of visiting him on set of "Burke and Hare" with Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis in this incredible government building in London.
You have another horror film, Brothers of Blood, on the horizon. What's the lowdown on that? Do you see yourself doing mainly horror films from now on?
Peter Wafer: Brothers of the Blood is in pre-production right now. It's not the usual vampire movie its much more adult than other movies of its kind. It really is a beautiful storyline written with soul by Tim Sullivan. I really look forward to begin work on that. I enjoy horror films very much but I'm dedicated to the craft and I like to challenge myself by playing different roles in different genres.
