Ditto! That's a very thoughtful observation. And of course, he didn't try to mean all FF flicks are like that but yeah...there are many examples that supports his points.

For people older and more experienced, it's harder to grasp why people don't HELP EACH OTHER. That used to be a normal thing to do, so when they see a scene where someone is slowly being eaten, or dragged away, or whatever, and someone is just standing there, filming every gory detail, it's hard not to shout in frustration, "Put down the camera you idiot, and clobber that thing over the head!"
Yes! Exactly. (well said Never).

I have nieces & nephews your age. They would lose their suspension of disbelief when seeing a character keep videotaping instead of helping a loved one. I think it's a valid criticism of a FF movie. Unless the character was revealed as having serious moral deficiencies. Characters acting illogical -within it's own reality- really wrecks the SOD for me.

Believe it or not, I don't just hang around people my own age. I do spend time with people of all ages. Wow, what bug crawled up your ass? I'm offended by your reply.

He's just reacting to being lumped in with negatives ascribed to his gen. He's right: narcissism, self-importance, & self-absorption is not unique to his gen, especially self-importance.

Horcrux, you're a bright fellow. It shouldn't surprise you that your vids & pics of yourself on the internet tend to support lumping you in to the 'youth self-exposure' pool. We see young people posting, "Here's me reacting to seeing a troll!", & we're left scratching our heads, thinking: one, 'why would I want to see this?', & two, 'why would they want to show this to the world?'. I know, that if you're practicing to be a film reviewer & performer of some sort, practice & feedback is important. Still, you'd have to admit, the volume of your gen's self-exposure far outstrips those practicing for careers.

To put that in context for you, our gen, as a whole, seems to have had a much deeper sense of modesty & filial piety. When we were teens & early 20s, even if it were available, I seriously doubt we would have posted tons of pics, vids & info about ourselves on the internet, as we would have understood that as a realm for adults only.

As an example, one has to be a minimum of 35 years old to run for US president for a reason; & teens don't have the life experience to fully understand why that is. That's why most parents wouldn't let teens post certain things on the internet. You know what I mean?

The reason why some people don't put the camera down in a found footage movie is because... Drumroll... It's a movie!
It's like a character going to check out some strange noises coming from a dark area. It's for the sake of the movie.

And every generation dislikes the younger generation for whatever reasons.
I think even some guy in the middle ages said something similar.

I interpreted this comment as "you're narcissistic and self-absorbed, so of course you wouldn't care." That's why I got offended.

And to sculpt, this is how I think of that situation: if your generation had facebook, instagram, camera phones and the likes, people of your generation would have been doing the same exact thing, posting selfies of themselves with their asses, titties, and everything else hanging out. Also, teenagers certainly aren't the only ones doing these kinds of things. What about youtubers in their 30's or 40's who also criticized movies like I did? Are they lumped into that group too? I didn't make that channel just to watch myself talk or for other people to look at me.

Probably many in my gen would have; but the core attitudes entrenched were different (than today), & at different levels (modesty, filial piety, & fear), but you wouldn't know about that unless you studied it; & even then, you didn't live through it, neither as a contemporary, nor as a older person, you simply didn't exit. In other words, you can't know what people who lived it felt. No fault on you, just reality.

I encourage you to continue & increase you skills in whatever good thing you're pursuing. Your profile reads you're 14 years old. There's no way for you to fully comprehend this, but in regards to experience and maturity, there's a big difference between 30-40 and 14. I'm not making an argument, just laying out the obvious.

While I encourage you to continue learning & producing, I higly suggest your parents OK any video you want to upload to Public, because there are consequences I won't get into, as that's what your parents are for. Or simply don't make it public, just invite only.

Have a 30-to-40-something survey some 40-year-olds, & see if they concur... the only 40-65 year-olds who really want to watch a video of a typical 14 year-old reviewing a film are marketers, child psychologists, relatives & perverts. Forty year-olds know you wouldn't understand why; & that's OK. But young people your own age might want to see it. (see prior paragraph)

Also, I'm just trying to explain to you what & why things are, I'm not trying to justify them. I can clue you as to why Huckleberry hates your guts, but I'd never bother trying justifying it. Hope that makes sense. Keep up the good work!
