here is the point i am trying to make (i dont pretend my opinion is correct. i will continue to defend it though). I know "prevention" rarely happens. if the death penalty was a real preventive measure, people would not kill in states that have it. BUT, it does prevent some.

When it comes down to it, i truly think they should be given life sentances like most murderers. just make sure everyone in the prison knows who he is and what he did.

And if "prison justice" stops him from ever seeing his first parole hearing, so be it.
you know what that makes you, a cold and mean spirited person, who basically doesn't care what people do, because even if it was a mistake, lets lock them up and throw away the key, and here's a quick question, what about the people who drive drunk and kill, what about them, lets do the same to them because that was a mistake too, oh wait... people can't make mistakes, i forgot, they deserve a life sentence or death too

here is what i have been trying to get at though (no, i am neither cold nor mean spirited. I am extremely empathetic, but passionate baout my beliefs as well)

Those are VERY different crimes. I even consider murder a lesser crime, because the victim's suffereing is over. Child molestation and rape causes people to have problems for their entire life, starting at a very young age. it is cruelty at its worst. I dont believe that even as a "mistake" that that makes it any lesser. People need to have at least that much control

i am by no means equating a child rapist with a shoplifter or a drunk driver....

...well i would agree but disagree, i think even as a mistake punishment is in order, i never said that it wasn't all i said was that rehabilitation was a definite thing to do after jail time, but i just think that everyone deserves a second chance

you know, being a girl, having conversations with girls, you would be surprised at how many rape victums you actually know. My grandfather fucked me. Really, I don't like to talk about it at all, I really don't want to think about it. For the longest time I was scared of anything with a penis, but I grew, I learned and I forgave. I really wasn't going to write about any of this, because its none of your business but you guys are just like the bleeding hearts. Instead of understanding the perpitrator, you are only seeing the victum. It goes both ways. I understand the victum didn't do anything to be in the position they are in and the criminal made the choice to do what they did but both lives are ruined, both people changed by the events that took place. I know one girl who enjoyed her experiance, or at least says she did and uses sex to cope. Im sure there are a number of offenders who learned from what they did and try to live a healthy life post rape. Not everyone is evil and vile. People have remorse. Remorse is a powerful thing and so is forgivness. Acting out on the people that did you wrong puts you in the same class as the criminals only you are able to feel better because you have 'justification'. Its all bullshit and when you take sides then you are in the same class as the people that opose you just like you share the same veiw with the people who agree. Its all relitive.
I personally don't believe in vigilante justice. It isn't justice and too many mistakes could be made. And yes, two lives are ruined. But you hit on the difference, the victim isn't given a choice. The offender has the control. They could have gotten help before they went too far. They could have stopped. But they didn't. The victims are the ones that need to be protected. Not the offenders. I am of the mind that once a person pays his debt to society, in most cases, then that person should be allowed to live his life. But because they chose to commit that crime, they have to deal with the consquences. And if it is a henious crime, and forcing yourself on a child is a henious crime, then we need a way to make sure that person doesn't have the opportunity to hurt someone else. And that isn't happening.

But this is a touchy subject for me. Because you are right, I think many, even most, girls have been through this. I am one of them and the one that did it to me didn't deal with any consquences because he had me too scared to do a damn thing about it. He was a predator, pure and simple. I spent over a year of my life, every day, in fear of this man and still do at times. And I will never forgive that, I can't. Maybe you are a bigger person then I am. But I just can't.

hmmm.. i dunno about that shit. try taking some law classes first.

there is a difference between saying 'this man molested a child' and 'this man is a child molestor.' like i mentioned earlier, you are registered for LIFE. as in. there are men/women here that want to do it everyday, have done it to several, will continue to do so, and then there are the men/women that only did it once. 50 years later, they are still registered

everyone fucks up. doesnt give you a reason to treat em any less human. the gov't is already branded them, theyve had to pay $$, spend time in jail.. blah blah, but that doesnt give ANYONE the right to put further punishment it into their own hands

WHY was gov't created? becuz some peopel straight up DONT realize that hey, you really SHOULDNt steal, SHOULDNT kill someone. etc etc.. trying to appease the masses.. if you will. go with the general morality of people. well same goes for 'street justice' - a lot of fools take it too far.. so yeh. id definitely stick any kidn of moron that woudl just run after someone. even on this list.. you dont nkow the whole story..

a lot of angry, negative folk on this board.. ive noticed. as in, you are al so quick to point out the fucker thatl kidnap a child, but say nothign about the thousands of volunteers who will take time off of work, play to go find a complete stranger...

most rapes arent reported...

the girls often feel shame, are afraid - dont want to be portrayed as sluts in court.

often their boyfriends/husbands leave them .. the ramifications are endless.

No one - NO-ONE gets through a molestation or rape unscathed.
even if you dont see it now - its there.

there was a trial in toronto not long ago where a group of pedophiles were abusing children at the maple leaf gardens (the old home of the toronto maple leafs)

it had been going on for years ... one of the victims from years ago became a victim again when he recently commited suicide..

there are about 2 million in prison as it is. to build a cell costs $7000 and upkeep of about $2000 a year.

to put someone to death costs $2.1 million and to put them in jail for 50 years costs around $250,000.

be prepared maybe to increase taxes... tenfold?

or is it one of those things where you want it but are unwillingly to fork over any money for it...........

The person who posted that response just turned 18 years old, just one year older than those 'imaginary' 17 year-olds...That's hardly the same as someone advocating child molestation...

I don't need a law class to know that something isn't right when people are told to 'leave the poor sex offender alone, or you'll be punished"...To me that means that we are being told to let the criminal just forget about it, so that he/she can move on with his/her life, and let it go......While, on the flipside, the victim has to live with it forever (if they don't commit suicide because of it), and they can NEVER let it go...In addition to that, some people forget that the criminals intentionally do things that they SHOULD be punished for, and they KNOW while they are doing it that they are doing something that they should be punished for, while the victim did not have any say in this shit, and definitely didn't ask for it...

I'm just sick of ALL of the laws that are made to protect criminals, and if you don't think that there ARE laws that are made to protect criminals, YOU need a few MORE law classes...
