And FYI, imdb.com agrees with me.

The genre for Seven is listed as Thriller, Drama, Mystery, Crime.
The genre for Silence of the Lambs is listed as Thriller, Horror, Crime.
The genre for The Sixth Sense is listed as Drama, Mystery, Thriller.

Hmm strange...I thought "Seven" and "Silence.." were serial killers movies and "The Sixth Sense" a ghost movie :)

i never thought Se7en or Silence were horror movies ... especially Se7en.

6th sense was a ghost story ... to me anything supernatural goes in the horror bucket.

Okay your opinion on genre classification officially means nothing to me now. ;) Ghost IS NOT horror, it's a love story!

Ghost Dad?
Casper the Friendly Ghost?
Beetle Juice?
Bringing Out the Dead?
The Christmas Carol?
Field of Dreams?
Ghostbusters?

Those are all horror movies simply because they contain a ghost?

I think not.

glad to know you werent actually planning your life around me ..

i know they arent horror per say ...
its just how i do it for sake of ease ...

rather than draw the line somewhere .. like Dead Alive .. its a comedy but most people would put it in horror ...
A lot of horror b movies are intentionally campy (therefore comedies) but they still get filed under horror ..

to be perfectly honest - this is already way more thought than i actually ever gave it ..

besides, you dont like Phantasm .. what the hell do you know about anything anyway :p

I certainly agree with the fact that the majority of movies out there do cross genres. I just don't think a ghost in it makes it automatic horror.

*Shakes head at the Phantasm comment.*

Not only did I not like it, I hated it! I didn't really like anything about it (Except the orbs. they were cool.) and then the worst part is that I was hoping the sequels would be campier, so I watched them all and they weren't! They sucked too! Myabe it's the combination of the lame ass hero (Reggie) and the super crappy villain.
