Intruder

Great slasher film, lots of fun, I'm thinking of picking this one up because I'll probably want to see it again down the road but maybe it's just one of those multiple rentals.

As far as ripping off movies or being influenced by them, humans have been around so long that original thought is dead. 99% of everything you think of or see has probably already been thought of and either kept to the originator of the idea or acted upon in some way. Just enjoy, if it's good who cares if somebody did it in another way another time? If it isn't good... don't watch it again or turn it off. I don't condone blatant ripping off of Koontz novels for your movie without any kind of recognition but I think with other ideas to see and work with greater things are created eventually.

When A Stranger Calls (original)

Well, this was decent, but not great. Also, it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. There wasn't too much gore, but the acting was good. The story was alright and the direction was fine. I'm sure it was scary when it came out, but it's not any more.

Puff, Puff, Pass

I never had heard of this movie but noticed it on Netflix and being a smoker, I couldn't resist checking it out. It has Danny Masterson (Hyde from That 70s Show), Mekhi Phifer and a few cameos by folks like Seth Green and Darryl Hammond (Actually, his role is more than a cameo.)

Anyways, I wasn't really expecting much from it so I wasn't let down, but I wasn't exactly pleasently surprised either. It was okay, but not great. There were some parts that were funny, but on the whole this movie lacked humor. It was well acted and kept a pretty good pace though. I wasn't bored with it, I just wasn't thuroughly entertained either.

The Evil Dead

Haven't seen this one in a while - not since it first came out on VHS. I actually enjoyed it a whole lot. Great with a few beers.:)

An American Haunting.

Was real excited to see this.

So I went to the theatre.

It has great sound effects and lots of great "spookhouse" action, with stuff jumping out at you. Not very subtle with its visuals, most of the time. But if you like spook rides and cheesy scares, this has a lot of that. I recommend seeing it in a theatre with a bitchin' sound system.

It is not, unfortunately, a good story with interesting characters. I thought it was going to be, but I think it is a "take it as what it is" movie.

If you love loud noises, noises crawling around the theatre in 3D sound, and stuff jumping out at you suddenly, this is your ticket.

Oh yeah: the distinctive howl of the American Werewolf In London makes a special guest appearance at one point. But if you recognize it, then that means you're old.
