I know what you mean. You have to take them with a pinch of salt, then you can enjoy them for what they are.

Oh yes, absolutely. By no means are any of them good movies. But they were made for the sole purpose of enjoyment (with the exception of 'X'), and enjoyed them we have.

With the exception of X?

Now, the way I see it, X was made for pure enjoyment more than any other installment. The plot was so far over-the-top that it was impossible to take serious, and from there they just has fun with some clichés, some CGI and plenty of fake blood. Should have turned out better, but could have been a whole lot worse.

I'll agree with you that "Jason Lives" had a good idea with bringing back the "campy, low-budge(t) horror" of Part III. My problem with it was that it took the idea way too far. Instead of being a fun, campy slasher like Part III, it tried to hard to advance the concept and fell on its ass: It turned more into a spoof than a sequel, and I couldnt enjoy it at all.

I actually typed that out wrong. I meant that I enjoyed all of the franchise except 'X', not that all of them were made for enjoyment except 'X'.

This I don't understand. Are you saying that 'Jason Lives' tried to hard to advance a concept and fell on its ass, but Parts 7, 8, and 'X' didn't?

If you ask me, ressurecting Jason and having him wreak havoc in the woods (and not for the first time) is a far less extreme plot than facing him off with a psychic girl with telekinetic powers or freezing him and taking him into space, where, by chance, he gets shoved right into some futuristic device that turns him into something reminiscent of a Transformer.

Wouldnt they have to "slurp" runny shit? Unless they were using a straw, then I guess they could suck. Sucking is usually done on more solid things than liquid I believe.

Its not the plot that bugs me, it's the execution. You're right, the plot isnt farfetched in the least, however the way that it is presented goes way overboard. Everything from the script to the chatacters to the cimematography is comic-book styled cheese. It could have worked, but it was just too smug for its own good. Breaking the fourth wall can be really effective on the rare, reare occasion that it's done well and fits the movie, but here when the actor playing Tommy looks at the camera, it's as though he's saying "How the hell did I get stuck in this?". It's almost as though he realised how pathetic the joke was, and was apologizing to the audience.

Jason X took the same basic idea, but made it more subtle. They made it seem like it was to be taken seriously, which is why so many people think its crap. Its tounge was just as firmly planted in its cheek, but it didnt wink quite so much as "Jason Lives".

Would anyone here have sexual relations with a female robot/computer thing if you lived on a spaceship?

In futurama they showed that having such relationships with robots would lead to the destruction of mankind...Still, that Lucy Liu-Bot was almost worth that.
