album artwork is pretty much a dead issue ...now that CDs are the thing.
What bang are you going to get with that little square ? some amazing origional pieces of art and photography were done for the 12" ... it was a great part of collecting vinyl, the great covers .. every know and then an artist tries to do it on CD and you get this 12" square that is folded down into CD size .. so when you look at it you get a heavily creased picture that wont lie flat. nice try boys .. |

Such as Emerson, Lake & Palmer's cover for Brain Salad Surgery, done by H.R.Giger.

Creeper, that puts me in mind of the "Satanic Panic" of the early to mid eighties. Album burning....Geraldo's special....Anton LeVey agging them on with his former "sinister" self. It was almost a regular witch hunt.
Now back to the thread.

I hate the CD reissues that are made to look like minature LPs :o Every now and then a cool CD cover pops up. Tool's Aniema was a good example of this with the moving pictures. I also liked the album covers that folded out into a massive poster (Crass had some great ones) now they try and do that on CD you get a puny little A4 sized "poster".....lame. A lot of albums are just worth getting for the cover I had a accordian "party" album with this old dude having a accordian sing along with some chicks in his lounge with ballons hanging in the background. I don't know if they did it on purpose but on the wall there's a long balloon hung with two round ones in a position that looks exactley like a huge cock with massive swelled up balls :D that cover never ceased to amuse me! I'll try and find a pic of it and post it to show you guys. |
