Yes I agree about the Vincest price thing
What, that he had sex with his sister?

OK so my list of most reviled movies in this forum is a wind up, but having said that BWP is a phenomenal horror experience, Jason X was a brave move and well underrated, Freddy's Revenge is dark and very unusual, Halloween 3 is a perfectly effective horror film slagged mainly due to its lack of (yawn) a certain Mr Myers, and Resident Evil is not that bad a game tie-in - sure beats Super Mario Bros., StreetFighter, Mortal Kombat...

No, Jason X really did suck ass.....I mean they put no effort into it, so therefore it wasn't a brave attempt.

I liked Freddy 2 not as much as the others but I still liked it.

Halloween 3 is a kickass movie even if it didn't have Myers in it.

Resident Evil had Zombies, cerberus dogs, and Umbrella and a hint of Nemesis. Not that great of a tie in there.

Now Resident Evil 2 was a great movie. ALOT better than the first one.

Here is what I think are the top 5 best Horror movies
1 The Devils Castle 1896 by Georges Melies. I think that the Devils Castle is without a doubt the best horror movie for this simple reason. It was the very 1st Horror movie ever made and without it other horror movies would not have followed. Btw the DevilsCastle was also the 1st Vampire movie. My 2nd pick is The Howling 1981 as it is imo to this day the best made Werewolf movie I have seen. 3rd would be Horror of Dracula 1958 with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. I had a bit of trouble deciding on which is the better Dracula movie Horror of Dracula or Bram Stokers Dracula in 1992 after thinking about it it has to be Horror of Dracula you just cant beat Lee and Cushing in a Dracula movie. My 4th pick is Godzilla 1954 as it is a movie about a mutated giant dinosarur who has the power of the h-bomb and he destroys in sheer torror an entire city and makes it radioactive leaving nothing but a wake of death and destrution behind him. My 5th pick is the Omen 1976 as it is a great movie about the Antichrist which is in the bible. Just the idea of such a person being alive is really a scary thought.

you can't honestly think that there would be no horror movies over the last hundred and nine years if The Devil's Castle wasn't made.

Austin think about it if there had not ever been a 1st Horror movie there would not be a horror movie genre. It was the 1st horror movie that inspired other film makers to make that type of movie. It just so happens to be the 1st Horror movie ever made was Georges melies The Devils Castle in 1896. And dont forget the 1st Scifi movie was A trip to the moon 1902 without that movie there would not be a Scifi genre and Melies made that movie as well. Anyway thats why I think the DevilsCastle is the best because without it no other horror movies would even exist. I could say my faves are Exorcist the Omen Halloween Frankenstien 1931 Dracula 1931 but they arnt. I saw those movies at the Drive in growing up but imo Hammers 1968 movie The Devil Rides Out is a far better movie than the Exorcist and it is a shame the Devil Rides out never made it here in the US. I like Karloff in Universals 1931 Frankenstien movie alot but I think Hammer made better Frankenstien movies with Peter Cushing. And Chris Lee rules as Dracula not that Bela did a bad job bela was great in 1931 but perhaps Carlos Villarias in Universals Spanish Dracula movie may have done a better job at playing the evil count. I never really thought of Halloween as being great and I am puzzled by fans who say it is. The Exorcist is a very good movie not scary but well made. The Omen I love Damien Omen I like even better. But the 1931 Frankenstien would have never of been made had it not been for Thomas Edison who made the 1st Frankenstien movie in 1910 the 2nd Frankenstien movie was in 1915 titled Life without a Soul. Then 16 years later Universal made Frankenstien with Karloff. I think the 5 movies I picked were good choices for what they are and for what they represent in Horror movie history.

i'm not bashing your picks if that's your opinion of what the best horror movies are then that's cool all i'm saying is that somewhere down the line in the last century someone would've made a horror movie i know just about everybody has put Halloween and the Exorcist on their lists but that doesn't obligate you to do the same if you like the old classics then that's fine. There are people that think Halloween and the Exorcist are the greatest horror movies ever made but you just basicly said that you thought Halloween sucked but there's nothing wrong about an opinion it's just what the paticular individual likes.

Hi Austin I know eveyone has their faves I have been a horror fan for 38 years I love these movies. I grew up always saying Lugosi was the best Dracula but to be honest its Chris Lee. I think alot of fans will just go with what they hear might be the best horror movie instead of watching as many horror movies as they can. You can always tell which way the horror movie genre is going by looking at the past horror movies. You may have noticed i did not say TCM as a fave and for good reason the 1974 movie is by far one of the biggest waste of film. You dont see what the movie implies there is no big massacre just a guy in a mask that motions as though he might be cutting when he isnt. The movie was just plain stupid it never got better it just got worse. I am thinking of renting the TCM remake in hopes it is a better movie. Come to think of it one of the top 5 should have been KingKong 1933 by RKO b&w that movie is a Masterpiece I saw the movie in a Theatre back in 1973 40th Anniversary showing. The movie was AWESOME. It was made in 1933 and I walked away saying to my dad WOW they could makes movies like that in 1933? He just smiled and said I guess so.
