burning dvd's help

i burned the movie onto disc, but it wont play on the dvd player.

does anyone know whats wrong?

Did you burn it on a DVD burner or on your computer? What kind of disc is it, RW+ or RW-. Some DVD players will only play one or the other or at least have troubles playing both.

i used both +r and -r dvd's. when i put the disc on my computer it showed that its there but on a reguler dvd player it didnt play.:mad:

What software did you use to burn it?

Can you try to see if it works on any other players?

How old is your DVD player/what type?

software? im not too familiar, i used a cd burner on my computer.

it worked on my comp, i only have one regular dvd player.
its an apex i believe.

What type of file was the movie? Also, were you trying to "backup" a dvd or burn a downloaded one?

There is your problem right there. An avi file will only play on a very select few DVD players. Luckily for me, it plays on mine. But you are going to have to get a program to transfer the file type. I think the correct file type would be that of .dvd or something like that. Look into it. Hope it helps.

make sure you have selected the right dvd type before burning. that was my downfall for a while

chances are you have copied the file to a dvd, you should have converted to a dvd and burnt this.
