liked wolf creek a lot for its claustrophobic helpless atmosphere. liked hostel for its over the top humourous violence. don't know if the director would be happy that i enjoyed it on a comedy level

There is a slight difference between Hostels and Hotels. In a hotel, you rent a room. In a hostel, you rent a spot to sleep, but you might be on the bottom bunk with a total stranger on the top bunk and two other total strangers in the other bunk bed right next to yours. You don't usually get your own room and the privacy is very minimal, but staying at hostels is waaaaay cheaper than staying at hotels.

I thought Wolf Creek was okay. I have no need to run out and buy it, but it was worth the rental. On the other hand, I thought Hostel was terrible. Overhyped, fairly boring, and just all around pointless.

Do you know how many times I checked my watch reading that nonsense ?
I enjoyed Hostel, and Wolf Creek was "OK" nothing great except the "Head on a Stick"

I don't "not like" many movies...these two are on the no good list for me though.

I didn't care for Hostel. The characters were so damn annoying. Never did care for them. But the thing with the feet grossed me out...

And the ground almost covered smooth in snow,
But a few weeds and stubble showing last.

The woods around it have it--it is theirs.
All the animals are smothered in their lairs.
I am too absent-spirited to count;
The loneliness incluces me unawares.

And lonely as it is, that loneliness
Will be more lonely ere it will be less--
A blanker whiteness of benighted snow
With no expression, nothing to express.

They cannot scare me with their empty spaces
Between stars--on stars where no human race is.
I have it in me so much nearer home
To scare myself with my own desert places.

lovecraft, your comment made me think of something. I think the main reason I liked Wolf Creek better than Hostel was that it did a better job of making me care about the characters. In my opinion, a horror film that doesn't elicit feelings of sympathy for the main characters is not going to work.

On the top "Even scarieir movie moments"...they had Hostel at #1...load of bull.
I have figured out though that whichever actor, writer, director...etc...they can get to be on that show...they are obligated to use parts of thier movie...thus Open Water being in the top 10-the two bobbing shark bait actors...def enjoyed the version of this that Bruce Campbell did last year.
