Sitting around terrified, knowing that you are going to die soon and there is nothing you can do about it has be pretty godamn terrible. Some are no doubt remorseless and may laugh all the way out, but i am willing to bet they are a significant minority.

A guilletine over a big ole hole in the ground. Sure, set up would cost a couple of grand, but after a couple of executions, it pays for itself :)
