"Tomb Raider" (2013) PS3 8/10
Great gameplay. Boring story. Zero replay value.

BioShock Infinite on the 360. Loved the complex story in this one... The ending seemed a little silly but after reading some analysis online (yes, I'm THAT big a dork), I appreciated it more. Makes me want to go back and replay the first one... It's been a while.

The last game I completed is also Bioshock Infinite. Truly amazing game!
Before that I completed Sniper Ghost Warrior 2. Very short game, but a load of fun regardless. I'm going to tackle Walking Dead Survival Instinct next, played through a couple of missions already, and it is nowhere near as bad a game as they were making it out to be! |

State of Decay, I can't wait to see what this dev comes out with when it brings a full retail game to the table because this $20 xbox live arcade game is one of the best zombie games I've played. The story is ok and there's some repetition if you try and complete all the objectives and get all the achievements but I expect that with open world games. I don't remember how many balloons I rescued in Spiderman 2.
Interesting concept in this one is leveling up your cardio, fighting, shooting, etc... and if you die your character is gone. You move on to another survivor and maybe get a chance to rescue some of the stuff your dead mate had on him or her. So be careful about sticking to one or two characters too much because if they die, get hurt, get sick, or just get too tired with no coffee or amphetamines to keep them going you will be stuck with fresh meat. Anyway, I think I ended up with 16 survivors after letting two die for achievements (stupid to have to do that...) which was plenty for me. Your resources are also finite, there's only so many cars in the city and you better do some scavenging because you won't be getting more ammo from the gun store once you clean it out. Good stuff. I recommend this one, it can be buggy and the dialogue isn't great but the gameplay more than makes up for it. It really does include quite a few things I've been looking for in a zombie game for YEARS but haven't seen in the likes of your Dead Risings and Left 4 Deads.

"Metro: Last Light" Ps3 8/10
Way too short for such an expensive game and had a few frustrating parts where i had no idea where i was supposed to go and/or what i was supposed to do. Otherwise it was a great ride. If it'd been a sandbox game i'd probably have given it a 10/10.

Halo 4.
I'm not a fan of Halo as a series to be honest...I played the first one about 3 years after its release and while know it may have been a little dated in gaming terms I personally didn't really see what all the fuss was. It seemed a pretty generic shooter with a sci-fi skin. I had a look at the second game in the series and decided against playing on because I thought it seemed astoundingly similar to the first and didn't seem to have moved on. Never saw the third, the top-down strategy game (not really part of the series in my mind) or ODST - Though I thought ODST actually looked pretty good, so I may give that a go. The next one I turned on was "REACH" which I played around with for about 15 minutes then switched off, it bored the hell out of me. So I acknowledge the series has some die-hard fans, and I'm sure that it's probably that I haven't given everything that much of a chance but I'm a pretty impatient gamer these days, so that could be it. I got Halo 4 from a friend. Heard it was something of a new start on the series. It gave me enough information in the intro to have an idea of what was up. It started out exciting. It looked a shitload better than any other HALO game I'd seen. I don't know from experience if they changed the tone and style of play that much (new 343 guys) but I enjoyed it. At first I thought I was just going to have a look and blow it off like I had every other HALO game but this one actually sucked me in. The storyline was cool, I like the friendship (?more?) between the chief and his AI...things evolved there in what I thought was a really great backstory/history of where humanity had gone, the voice acting was rock solid, and the FMV sequences were amazing. The game itself is sharp and crisp, you move around in a smoothe and comfortable manner which to me is important in an FPS. The combat feels arcadey in a way but that just "fits" somehow, allowing some high intensity and fast paced gun battles. The maps are serviceable with a lot of cover to work with, and the use/?introduction of? the secondary functions like the sentry and the hard light shield allowed for some varied approaches to gameplay. I liked the environments, and at no point did I feel like I'd spent "too long" in the one kind of area, in fact I even appreciated the desert scenes which I'd normally find bland and boring. The only let-downs were a slight glitch that needed a level to be replayed a couple of times ("board the covenant ship", anyone?) to proceed, and in all honesty the vehicles...they're alright...just not really my thing in an FPS...though you don't *have to* use them most of the time, and even if you did it was fairly sparingly peppered throughout the game. So yeah overall I liked this game, I don't know how differently these 343 guys do things from Bungee but they made me like the series and anticipate the next one. Overall I'd give it a 7.75 out of 10. Play it if you're looking for a user-friendly, solid sci-fi experience laced into a VERY shiny looking game.

"The Last of Us" PS3 9-10/10
Except for the beginning (after the awsome interactive intro) that dragged a bit, this survival "horror" game/playable movie was absolutely brilliant. Great charaters and character developement and terreffic voice acting was the key ingredient. The story was pretty good and the graphics damn good. Oh yea.. and it was extreeemely violent. Yay! :D Hurry up and buy.

I just finished "Spec ops - the line". Re-opened my last saves to finish it with all the endings...though this whole multiple ending trend is getting to piss me off in all honesty. I mean in cases like where there's one or two possible outcomes depending on your actions THROUGHOUT the game, fine - but I do not want to have to reload usually the last scene of a game just to see what'll happen if I did something a little differently right at the end. That and, I don't need 5 or more fucking endings... Anyways the game was excellent. Great atmosphere good level of tension, and the dialogue and storyline were both among some of the best of this genre. The combat is fairly standard CBS affair, though it's user friendly and the gunfights provide challenge and fun...I did die a lot, but the checkpoints are littered in a pretty fair way. It's an unusual game/storyline, there's some subject matter here I've never really seen delved into in a game before. Pretty raw stuff too, like I was kind've shocked by some of it...though it only goes towards the overall tone of the game. I enjoyed this one a lot. I think I'd actually give it 9/10.
