I don't think they should make ANY sequels, unless the story would not be completely told without them. Like the original Star Wars trilogy, and the Lord of the Rings trilogy: you had to have those sequels, otherwise you wouldn't have the whole story. Otherwise, sequels always destroy the dignity of the original film.

I think Final Destination is an example of needing a sequel to continue great filmmaking. I loved the first one so much why not make another one that has the same good quality?

Its the same thing as making LOTR sequels, you're just continuing the story.

I agree 100%...I mean look at Leprechaun...The sequels completely ruined what was a great original movie......LOL...I am SO kidding...

Okay...Seriously...Most sequels suck, especially when they get to the point where they have OBVIOUSLY run out of ideas for them, but they just keep making them anyway...ie: Amityville...Friday The Thirteenth...Halloween...and MANY others

On the flipside...I love some of my movies so much, I just want to see more, even if they DO suck...I just want to revisit my characters, and take myself back into it...ie: Night Of The Living Dead (Particularly the "Return" Sequels, which weren't so great, but I wouldn't know what I would do without them)...Texas Chainsaw Massacre...Nightmare On Elm Street...House...Wishmaster (Yes...I liked it...So what?:p )...Warlock...and so many others:cool:

Then there are a very SMALL selection of sequels that actually worked and were good...ie: Night Of The Living Dead (Yes, I am mentioning it again because I am only including "Dawn" and "Day" here)...CREEPSHOW...Evil Dead...Final Destination...Not many more

OOPS...Sorry...I didn't really mean for this to turn into a rant:D

It is very hard to determine what movies qualify for a sequel or not. Ginger Snaps could have stood as a movie by itself, and yet the sequel came and it was very good. However, you have the original Predator and that didn't need a sequel, and the one it got sucked. The same thing goes with THE HOUSE series. Granted none of those were very good, but even still the sequel sucked. I liked IT until the end with the whole giant spider thing which I thought was so gay! The Lost Boys 2 would be a good one, providing they get the majority of the original cast back. Also, I don't know if you heard, but they are doing THE LOST GIRLS. Which is the same story just with girls. Final Destination 2 was very good in the ways that it linked the first characters with those of the first one. They left it open for another one, which would be good but I would be happy without it.

I think predator2 was excellent. it was just as good as the original. In fact i don't even konw if you could really call it a sequal. except for the alien it has nothing to do with the original. l guees you could almost call it a original in its own right. anyways it was a great movie. one of the best sequals ever

alot of sequals never really stick to original storylines, case in point
Evil Dead 2, just a hash job remake of part 1, with a little more things happening, 1st one went to cabin with some people 2nd went to cabin with his girlfriend only, why not just pick up part 2 where they showed him being carried away by the "fog" thing and begin there instead of rehashing part 1????

Return of the Living Dead 2, same 2 characters from the supply store (who died in 1) make a triumphant appearance as grave robbers in 2.....

theres more but I am tired of trying to figure them out lol.....

Well, if you're going to make a sequel, at least plan for it before you make the first one. That way, you can leave all sorts of things unanswered in the first and make a sequel that's more fitting. Don't go: "Hey! This movie made a shitload of money! Let's make another, and make MORE money!" That's what happened to Blair Witch ... and the sequel chewed major hairy balls.
