Tenebrae
I really enjoyed Tenebrae thought that it was a little slow at some moment but overall really good with an unexpected ending.

Italian Horror Filmmakers
Mario Bava was the original master of Italian horror, he made two really EXCELLENT films- Black Sunday and Twitch of the Death Nerve. Most of his other films were decent, but the man wasn't immune to flops. Blood and Black Lace is overrated.
Lucio Fulci is a hack- was a hack- is a hack. My opinions on him are very well versed and well known. And quite controversial, to my surprise. I wasn't aware that to be a horror fan, I had to be a robot and like everything certain people tell me to. That's the way it's been on other boards... The Beyond and Don't Torture a Duckling weren't terrible films- but pretty much everything else he touched was. The New York Ripper is a dispicable, miserable excuse for a movie. It's gore was used to cover up the fact that the movie is blatantly misogynistic, and disgusting at that. But since I haven't had any luck so far in appealing to the intelligence of Fulci fans, I digress. Zombie is hugely overrated. I know that there is a real scale of badness, that it's often an abstract concept. And I know the difference between good-bad and bad-bad. And Fulci was just bad-bad-bad... Dario Argento on the other hand has been the most consistent, innovative, brilliant, and ambitious of the 3. Even his lowest film, by any standard, would be fascinating!

Wrong Watch
Quote:
Many of the set-pieces involve the actual plot and characters of the movie. This is not always typical for Argento, and thus many fans aren't used to it. But if you appreciate Argento at all, you give him the space to try something different. And Phenomena is fascinating, compelling, bizzare, and beautiful. It aspired to be something more than most of Argento's films. And as an experiment, this worked out much better than many of Argento's films that just retread his giallo formula. The result is very worthwhile. Also, very happy to hear about your DVD. Is it in good shape, quality-wise?
