Check this, tic...

September 25, 2007

James Middleton, consulting producer on the new FOX TV series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, gave a few tidbits about where things stand with Terminator 4.

Middleton informed that Halcyon would like to be in pre-production in October with an eye towards a 2009 release.

No director is signed yet, but they are close, according to Middleton. He added that the sequel will not be called Terminator 4, but instead will use the title Terminator and have some sort of subtitle, as in Rise of the Machines.

It will follow the events of T3 and be post-apocalyptic. It's not known whether Nick Stahl and Claire Danes will return, but John Connor and Kate Brewster are in the script. Middleton said the participation of Stahl and Danes would depend on many factors, including the thoughts of the eventual director and others involved. Also, while John and Kate are part of the story, the movie will feature a new hero as the main character. Middleton likened it to how "Ben-Hur was influenced by Jesus Christ, but it was his story. Much in that way, this character will be influenced by John Connor."

The plan is for this to be the first of three new movies, all of them set in this post-apocalyptic future and showing the war with the machines.

My girlfriends job is in media so she gets all the new shows on dvd before they air on tv, watched the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Nothing great , but what do expect. I am a fan of three films, but it's hard to get into a tv series where the actors/actresses don't match up with the movies

October 10, 2007 - Warners Bros. will distribute the newly retitled Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins in North America.

The studio previously released Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.

Terminator Salvation will begin filming in early 2008 and will cost less than T3. John Brancato and Michael Ferris penned the screenplay for production company Halcyon.

Variety reports that the fourth installment "seeks to reinvent the cyborg saga with a storyline to be told over a three-pic span." As Halcyon co-CEO Derek Anderson explained, "This is set in the future, in a full-scale war between Skynet and humankind."

Producer Moritz Borman added, "The third film was really the conclusion of what happened in the 'now.' You will find the most-loved characters, but the intention here is to present a fresh new world and have this be the first of a trilogy."

According to Variety, "no final decision" has been made about a director despite the buzz about McG helming the movie. Another question mark is the inclusion of Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was elected governor of California after T3. The producers said it's possible that Arnie could shoot a cameo depending on his schedule and interest.

All those whispers about McG being in talks to direct the new “Terminator” movie - They’re no longer just whispers, and he’s no longer simply ‘in talks’.

The “Charlie’s Angels” helmer is signed, sealed and delivered. He will direct “Terminator Salvation : The Future Begins“.

Wow. I can't believe I missed this thread. I am actually in an ongoing argument with one of my friends over terminator 3. He belives 2 and 3 to be the best in the series and 1 to be dull, I consider 1 and 2 to be the best and 3 to be pushing it and rely's on the other films to help it stand.

Anyway, there are two continuities in the terminator series branching off judgement day. There's the Rise continuity and the Chronicles continuity. Hopefully, to keep Sarah alive, they'll follow the latter.

The big rumor of the day is that a certain superhero actor has joined the fourth installment of The Terminator franchise, Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. McG will direct the sci-fi actioner for Warner Bros.

Ain't It Cool News reports that none other than Batman himself, Christian Bale, has been cast as the heroic John Connor. Connor, mankind's hope for the future, was previously played by Edward Furlong and Nick Stahl. And although it initially believed that Bale had been cast as The Terminator, CHUD.com now reports, "Is it possible that Bale is not playing either John Connor OR the Terminator? I'm hearing buzz that he's playing a character who is new to the Terminator mythology."

Considering this rumor and another one that Bale is seriously mulling playing Solid Snake in the new Metal Gear Solid movie, I wonder which way he goes...or chooses both.

Good to hear about the budget, it means they won't make it lean on CGI, although having said that, it was the bad termy's CGI that made him so cool. Hmmm, what a conundrum!

So the rumours are true: Christian Bale WILL star in the new Terminator film, and is set to play... John Connor!

According to a report in Variety today, the Batman Begins star will play the human resistance fighter leading the battle against Skynet in the 4th instalment of the franchise, entitled Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins.

The production is set to be helmed by McG, who previously directed the Charlie's Angels films.

Little is known about the plot at present, although the pic has been described as a "reboot" of the franchise -- the first in a new series of films set to chronicle the war between humanity and Skynet.

There has been speculation linking Bale to the project for several weeks, with the star also rumoured to have been considered for the role of a terminator. The John Connor character was previously played by Edward Furlong in T2 and Nick Stahl in T3.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, who made his name starring in the first three Terminator films, is not attached to the project at present.
