I seriously think that people from overseas seem to have only ever head about 5 Australian bands...and yknow what? Fuck Silverchair...I liked ONE song they ever did (Israel Son) and the rest was just wannabe crap.
So, just what comes to mind: Friendly Josh Pyke (plus band...) Regurgitator Butterfingers NewProject Sonicanimation The Superjesus The Butterfly Effect Pendulum ...I think all of those are alright...and pretty certain they're all relatively recent by comparison to the other mentions... I'm sure every dingle one of them will bear similarity to SOME other band/artist, but then - this is not exactly a condition exclusive to Australian music, every single band/group sounds like something else.
