My mom has a friend she has known since childhood, and she moved to California years ago. She lost hers, but everytime she visits or talks to any of us for awhile, she picks it right up. And her husband says it sticks for a few days....:D I doubt I will lose mine. It is actually pretty thick, people can understand me, but its heavy. :o

I wanted to add a comment about this whole thing

I've spoken on the phone to most of the members of this forum before this radio show was started...It was something that I really wanted to do because I had never touched a computer until almost 4 years ago (This was my first forum), and it all seemed so very impersonal to me...

No faces, no voices...

Tone and inflection are very important when speaking, especially to ME because I happen to be an extremely expressive speaker, and I'm quite sarcastic and playful/joking as well...Text can NOT convey those things, and often we aren't really sure exactly how someone means something that has been said here

I have often had to retype something, in order to be sure that what I'm trying to say isn't taken the wrong way, and that the full meaning is conveyed properly

Also, as a person who was not familiar with internet communication, I was used to looking at the person I was speaking to on a regular basis, or at least hearing their voice on the telephone

These things are the reason that I use my picture for my avatar, and also why I am always encouraging everyone ELSE to use their pictures in their avatars or at LEAST post a picture, just so we can see who we are speaking to

I think these factors are what encourages us to call in, or just listen to these shows...It's so much more personal/human...And to be able to 'hear' someone's voice when we read their posts, hear them giggle or laugh when we see the lols, hahas, smilies, etcetera, and also even to pick up the tone in their sarcasm, actually makes this form of communication SO much easier to understand...and it helps a lot when we can't actually hang out together...It's so much more like 'being there'

I'm glad that I got a chance to explain all of that...Did it make any sense to you guys?

Makes a lot of sense, Rayne.

I know that I have been through a lot of crap because people don't understand what I'm trying to say when I type something.

I wish I could call in but I make enough long distance calls to talk to my boy.

This makes a LOT of sense to me.
But I guess because forums ARE so impersonal in a way, I am not hindered by my shyness. I am a very shy person, and have a hard time warming up to people. Once I do......you can't shut me up....;) But until then, its kind of awkward. That's why I would be trepidatious about calling into a show like this. You know, its a wonder I ever actually spoke to my husband.....
