First let me say that it's great to find out there are other horror fans who also love westerns, I thought I was the only one. Here's my top ten favorites as well as a few other choice films:
1. The Searchers-John Wayne 2. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly-Eastwood 3. The Magnifcent Seven-Yul Brynner 4.Rio Bravo-John Wayne 5. Siverado- Scott Glen, Kevin Costner 6.The Outlaw Josey Wales- Clint Eastwood 7.Lonesome Dove-Robert Duvell,Tommy Lee Jones 8.Tombstone- Kurt Russell 9.Winchester '73- James Stewart 10. High Plains Drifter-Clint Eastwood. Now if your interested in John Wayne films you might want to check out "Stagecoach, War Wagon, Hondo, Red River,True Grit" just a few of dozens of great Wayne westerns More good Eastwood films include "Pale Rider,Hang 'Em High, For A Few Dollars More" James Stewart movies:"The Man From Laramie, Broken Arrow" You may also want to try "The Hour Of The Gun'with James Garner Sam Rami's "The Quick And The Dead" with Sharon Stone and "The Long Riders" with Stacy Keach. To get a good overall look at westerns you may want to check out a book called "The Overlook Film Encylopedia-The Western" (they also have a horror and Sci-Fi editions) Now I have a question for anyone reading this very long post..do any of you know of a site like Horror.Com but is devoted to the Western? I can't seem to find any. If you know of one please send me a message. |

not unusual that we would like westerns when you think of it ..
The Wild Bunch is credited by some as the 1st 'splatter' movie. The first movie to show bullets hitting in slow-mo with blood shooting out. Before that there was a gunshot .. someone grabbed their chest and they fell over. thank you Mr Sam Peckinpah ! |
