9 was certainly a disappointment in terms of character development and I wasn't overawed by it. And contrary to all the Diablo Cody and Megan Fox haters out there, I enjoyed Jennifer's Body quite a bit and thought it had a pretty interesting premise.

---- The Stoned Age A real overlooked classic that was great to watch again. Hadn't checked it out since it came out and it still holds up really well. |

2012: Stupid. Goes to such lengths to set up some level of political or scientific grounding for the story only to have the most absurd action scenes I have ever witnessed. It's worth watching just to see what feels like two completly different movies being ineptly tacked together. Racial sterotypes abound and everyone's a hero. I'm a total sucker for any sort of disaster or end of the world flick but this really was as ridiculous as it gets from start to finish. It's basically the same over blown, rehashed action scene shot over and over with a break every half hour for someone to attempt to say or do something noble or profound. The movie fails at every turn and for that reason, even at over 2 1/2 hours, its worth a watch.
The Crazies (2010): One of the very rare remakes I was looking forward to watching and had heard plenty of good things about it, can't say I was overly impressed though. As remakes go it was solid enough, but I didn't think it was anything beyond ordinary. Nicely shot with plenty of fun scenes throughout, but it was a little bit flat and uninspired. |

Moon
Id read good things about this film and was not disappointed. Sam Rockwell plays Sam Bell, a lone astronaut on a lunar base where harvesters collect fuel to help cure Earths power supply shortages. The only company he has is a Kevin Spacey voiced robot called Gerty and the few messages he exchanges with Earth. He is coming to the end of his 3 year contract when things start happening. There are some clear similarities with 2001 and Silent Running, two of the greatest sci-fi flicks and this one can easily remain in the same company as them. Rockwell is great and the sparse lunar landscape is beautifully shot. Quality science fiction without alien invasions or warp drives or space adventures, you really should see this.
