John Carpenters Village of the Damned

Not bad at all, its not as creepy as the 1960s film but does do it some justice. The child actors were particularly impressive amongst a fairly solid cast.

May - Die Schneiderin des Todes

Now this one I saw on a lot of "best" lists so I was intrigued and Netflixed it.
I was baffled at first (esp. by Ana Faris), But Bettis' acting carries the day as she is so believably sick (and very cute in a dented sort of way).
Somewhat predictable, but the cinematography is great and it does have some fine chilling moments.

How do I attach photos to my posts? Image Shack or something like that?

Sunset Blvd. (1950). The title of this one is a subtle indication of one of the profound themes of this Hollywood classic. Called the grandfather of flicks which dare to divulge the dark underbelly of Hollywood, this might be one of the finest movies ever shot. From the opening scene to that sublime ending, everything works magnificently. The driving force of this one is in part dignity as it turns to madness. Holdin and Swanson and Stronheim are simply perfect in their parts. The direction and photography are superb. The script was wonderful, being at times subtly scathing or darkly humorous. Even the seemingly absurd scenes are necessary and compelling. Simply a perfect movie experience.

MAY is not a great horror movie, it's an excellent character study. Bettis' performance is absolutely perfect. Which is why I've watched it a hundred times. She's a magnificent actress that doesn't get the credit (or roles) she deserves, because she doesn't fit into the standard Hollywood "look" mode.

I remember the first time I saw this, and Bettis was first introduced I thought "If I have to watch this person for an hour and a half, I'm turning this off. Then you see her behind the tree and realize, OK she's hot."

She's also a real sweetheart in person. She signed my May Poster "Fuck You George Snow"

If you enjoyed May for the character study, check out TEETH. The co-star performances are pretty weak, but Jess Weixler is great and the story is excellent.

Atomic train

Caught some of this on TV this afternoon, wasn't too horrible although I quickly left the building when the post explosion survival crap kicked in.

One of the few Carpenter flicks I don't like. I think it was Kirsty Alley's fault :D

The Runaways

I don't know much about the band's history so there was bound to be liberties taken I'm sure. But anyways I thought this was a decent enough rock bio flick.

Phenomena (1985). As far as the story goes, this was a mess of a movie. In the realm of unique, this bizarre little flick gets a higher score. As to gross factor, it ends up with a high score. On a bright note, We get to see a young and cute Jennifer Connelly in her third role. Adventurous and quirky, for Argento fans this is a must see. Others might want to steer clear. Personally this was my least favorite Argento flick to date. Late.

District 13: Ultimatum

Enjoyable action flick, not a great deal of substance and not as good as the first but some excellent action set pieces and likable main characters. Briefly, two men ally themselves with the five gangs controlling District 13 in order to stop corrupt government officials destroying the entire area.

Well worth a watch
