I actually didn't have any problems with the pace of Psycho.

Perhaps it's because I grew up loving the slow and comfortable pace and atmosphere of classic movies, horror or not.

But I thought it was perfect, and when the first real scene of horror came, it packed a double punch in the gut. The calm before the storm. Absolute film perfection.

i liked Psycho from the minute i saw it .. it's a masterpiece.
It was the first (and one of the only) films that killed off the main character early on in the film.

I thought the pacing made the film, not weaken it.

my only issue was that they felt the need to provide a 'wrap up' at the end ...

Not to mention, it was the first mainstream movie ever to show a toilet flush.

psycho is, IMHO, the greatest horro film of all time - not because it still shocks us, impossible given its notoriety, but because of its subtely and humor and masterful touch. . . hitchcock was an amazing director ta the heighth of his power!
